Seat unlock
What happens if you press down on the seat when you try to lock or unlock?
Stator problems
Check the diodes in your rectifier. Check the output voltage of the alternator.
Problems wont start
CHECK ALL FUEL/OIL LINES FILTERS ETC. AFTER THAT CLEAN CARB AND ADJUST IDLE SPEED.
Need to get at battery to recharge
Remove battery, check fluid levels and put on a 2 amp slow charge (regular battery charger), if it doesn't take a charge, replace battery.
Want to change belts on roadstar

I am having running problems with my 2004 Yamaha
You have done a good job ... pat yourself on the back ... following that, go get some injector cleaner and add an appropriate amount to your tank and go for a ride. Do what ever you need to do to keep from pushing it home. I think this will solve your trouble.
May I recommend a fuel stabilizer for your fuel for future periods of time when you will not be riding? StaBil is a good brand but there are others as well.

2004 yamaha 1700 fuel gauge indicator reads empty
Check resistance of fuel sensor,connector should be under seat at rear of tank. If open sensor may be bad.Check the connector for good contact.Check with a good dealer about problem ,most will give you some help if you buy your parts from them.
