Backfiring
Backfiring is a symptom of being too lean, not too rich. Clean your jets, synch the carbs and adjust the PMS.
Brake light and turn lights
Check the signal fuse in the fuse box. it is a 10 amp fuse. If that signal fuse is out, You would also not have a horn or neutral light as well.
Oil Leak from rear drive gear box
Anything can be fixed. Just have to have the knowledge to be able to fix it. All in the name of the Lord. God knows all.Its just a seal leak. Most likely going to have to get inside the hub change the seal and lock it all back up.

Sounds like a bent shift fork. While accelerating you can feel the power cutting in and out quickly. The problem will get worse if you keep pushing 2nd gear till it slips. You can learn where (at what RPM) it wants to jump out and start shifting before it jumps out. The long term fix is opening the transmission and fixing the bent shift fork.

Are you certain? Motorcycles typically have a valve on them with an OFF, ON and RESERVE position. It is the same tank, the valve dictates whether you are ON or on RESERVE. You can have fuel in the tank and not be able to use it because the valve is in the ON position not RESERVE. Never operate normally in RESERVE ... the RESERVE is to get you home.
