How can i jump start

taking the seat of a vmax is really easy. open the seat like your gonna full the gas tank, on both sides is a plastic piece coming from the seat. on nut on each side comes out and the seat lifts back and up. if your talking about just starting with a battery cable you can just reach the battery cables with the seat off. if your talking about jump starting by forward motioin and using the clutch its best to find a hill and get it going and put the bike in 2nd gear and let the clutch out. WARNING. If the bike don`t start you probably won`t be able to push it up hills, it weighs 650 lbs. but you can not jump start the bike without taking off the seat. suggestion, buy a battery tender terminal hookup for $5 and screw the two wires onto your batter and let if hang out the side of the seat, it has a cap over to keep it dry in the rain and if you buy a battery tender you will be able to jump the bike or charge the battery without taking of the seat every time. the battery tender cost from $20 to $40 it s worth the money. if your not going to ride you bike in the winter hook up the battery tender and leave the battery out of the bike for the winter in a garage or basement hooked to the battery tender. cost pennys a month and save the battery life.hope this helps

2001 vmax My throttle has alot

Try lubing your cables and throttle mechanism first. Do your adjustment when the bike is warm. It sounds like you're making one of the cables too tight.

What is the correct tyre

Look at the sidewall of both tires. There will be a 'MAX PSI' embossed on the tire. It will probably say Max 45 PSI. At 45psi the bike will ride like a rock. At 15psi it will ride really squirrely. Find a psi at which you feel the bike handles well and rides well. One rider may weigh 125 pounds and the next rider may weigh 300 pounds. The best psi for each rider will be different due to weight. Chances are that 30 to 35 psi will do the trick.

I ve lost the keys to 2001 v max yamaha,how do i

A good salesman will write the key cod on your owners manual. If the salesman does not, you should get in the habit of keeping a record of the key codes for your vehicles. The key code is stamped on the original keys on older bikes, and on a small metal tag that comes with the keys on newer bikes. On older bikes the code is also stamped on the base of the ignition switch, gas cap and possibly the helmet lock. You will probably have to remove the switch to read it. Take the ignition switch with you to the lock smith or dealer to make sure the key works before you leave the store. A proper key code for a bike of your vintage is a letter (A,B,C.D,or E) followed by five digits, Example # A12345. Ignitions are the test of a good key a bad key will work in everything but the ignition.

My vmax does not rev over 6000rpm in 3rd,4th &

hi,the dealer is partly right, you will need the deristrictor, but it is not a resistor as they say,its a bit more complicated than that, not that it matters, because it will give you the result you want,a lot of the earlier bikes had a 80 kph light in the rev counter and all you had to do was take the bulb out and"voila" deristricted, but not so with your bike,i had a v-max a while ago and it was a magic bike and man did it go!!,you will be impressed...cheers

Yamaha V-Max cruiser. Were does the red with yellow line go after the fuse box on my Yamaha VMAX streetbike?

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Yamaha Cars to model category. Nowhere gives a single wire wiring diagram and if you search 'fuse box wiring' you will get pages of fuse box diagrams. Here is your Service Manual set to the correct page. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/936686/Yamaha-Vmax-Vmx17c-2009.html?page=583#manual ..

If I order the sissy bar back rest for my 1985

Presuming that the cissy bar is designed for the bike, there is no need to drill holes. There is a chrome curve mounted on the rear mudguard by two allen bolts. You remove the two bolts and depending on the make of the cissy bar you have simply use the bolts to fix the cissy bar over the top of the original chrome.

There are dozens of cissy bars from various aftermarket manufacturers, so it's hard to be precise. Some come with a spacer that fits into the recess on the chrome curve to hold the side of the mounting away from the chrome, some don't. Some come with extended bolts for you to use, some don't. All in all however it's a very simple and fairly intuitive bit of kit and should only take you about 15 minutes to bolt up.

If you would like to drop a comment on this thread with the make and model of the item you plan to buy, and if you have it, a link to the item so that I can take a look at it, I'll give you some more information about fitting, but you really shouldn't need any. It really is an easy job
