Engine cranks but wont start, changed igniter fuse that was burnt, what should i check next

If fuse was burned, the problem ought to be in the circuit in which the fuse is situated. That is your staring point for tracing back to the fault, I would think. You have eliminated the starter system so focus on the ignition system.

Looking at the sight glass to check levels i am

Have a buddy tip the bike over to the right - if the level is in fact too high, tipping it to the right should reveal this. If it's way too full, that could create problems. I doubt it will damage the engine but it could make a mess if it's overfilled by more than a quart.

Too much oil is better than not enough. Find out for sure before you run it any more.

Why does my Yamaha 1100 Vstar die when you put it

There is a switch on the kickstand that is supposed to shut the motor off if the kickstand is left down and the bike is put in gear. It's a safety device that's a bit annoying - especially when it malfunctions. My guess is that this switch is electrically or mechanically stuck so it thinks the kickstand is down. It's a fairly common problem. Mess with the plunger a little - it might free up but ultimately you might just want to replace the switch if it is in fact the switch causing the problem. I hope this helped!

Do you have to drop

Yes, unless you want to spend $250 on a Baron oil filter relocation kit. http://www.motoshop.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BA264000&Category_Code=BARONS&Store_Code=AIM Or $275 on a Jardine oil filter relocation kit. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=108&manufacturer_ID=7&product_ID=6715&sblid_name=Jardine_Chrome_Oil_Filter_Relocation_Kit___ V_Star_______ If you choose to stay with the stock set up, consider keeping new exhaust gaskets handy in case you start to experience popping and backfiring caused by leaking exhaust gaskets on the head pipes.

Why does my speedometer not work most the time?

If its like the xvs650, sometime the speedo end of the cable has a habbit of dropping off, lift the speedo housing and have a look. I had it happen just I got to a speed camera which was funny in the least.
