It for sure is a electrical problem if it'll start direct voltage then your button is not providing enough electricity from your battery to kick it over so check your battery make sure your battery is always on full charge you might have to put your battery on the charger at night or something if you're riding the next day or it could be catching mine I had to put in the clutch start rolling it Forward let go and allow the gears to lock better then it start right up give that a try see what that does sometimes it just is in the wrong position hope that helps you

This to me sounds like you need a carb cleaning. If you have let the bike sit for an extended time the carberators maybe clogged or gummed up. This has to do with the new gas that is out there now. It is cheap and with the introduction of Ethanol alcohol now it is even worse on being stable for long periods of time. I have seen fuel go bad in as little as 3 weeks.. One quick check you can do is open you fuel tank and smell the fuel. IF it smells like varnish it is probably bad. You can drain the tank and add new fuel and that should solve your problem. Keep in mind, that the carbs need to be drained as well to get the old fuel out of there also. Make sure you have a battery charger going when you start crankin that puppy, because you will need lots of extra juice to get that baby to fire up. If it is starting now and runs on choke, that means your idle jets are clogged. Best repair is to remove carbs and clean idle jet. Unless it is fuel injected.

Lift up the back of the fuel tank, should be in front of the battery box, or under the battery box

The problem is most likely clogged idle jets. The solution would be to mix some additive, like B12 or Sea Foam, with your gasoline and go for a ride. You want to make sure you ride enough to get the gas into your carburetors. While riding, the additive will clean your carbs, but when you park the bike with the engine off is when it will start soaking into your idle jets. Depending on how clogged they are, it may take a while. The alternative is to remove the carbs, and clean the idle jets. I would try a couple of ounces of cleaner per gallon of gas and then ride it around and see how it works. It has worked for me 3 out of 4 times. Good luck!

do the lights dim when you hit the starter button if not the button itself has no more contact inside sometimes the can be cleaned remove the pod from the bars remove retaining brackets inside pod that hold the wires in place be carefull not to lose the small spring clean contact and reasseble

make sure your air filter and airbox are clean. if they're good then check that your choke is working properly.

hey m8y,, have u had the carbs balanced m8,, as she been serviced,, try the carb balance b4 any thing dude,, if the carbs dont open at the same time, or a ikl bit out of sync,, that will give a engine slappy knockin noise,,
