I have gas shooting up
Check and make sure that the needle and seat are functioning properly along with the floats, make sure that there not sticking as well. If that doesn't fix it it is then possible that the carbs did not get cleaned good enough. Thanks, good luck.
1986 Yamaha Venture Royal 1300 will only start in neutral now.
There is a tiny switch at the clutch lever housing assembly, the wires that are on tht switch may hve been distrubed unknowingly whilst you were refitting the cable.
Not bad too if you can check the switch which has a tiny protusion towards the clutch lever, it may probabley need a little adjusting or cleaning, spray some WD40 to it.
To access it from the lever side , it would be best to remove the clutch lever.
Hope this helps!

make sure you check the main fuse -- it sounds like the fuse is blown and needs to be changed.

Motor runs with chock on
What you have is here is a fuel to air ratio issue and this can be resolved by reducing the air intake when the choke is off. There will be a screw that you can either turn clockwise or counterclockwise and that will either increase or decrease the air intake. It may take a while to get the mixture exactly right, but that is the issue.

How to I use the
Hi,
You can use any of the following methods
- Connecting the iPod via headphone jack
All you need
is a simple Y cable, which is available from any home-electronics store.
Connect the small plug to the headphone output of your iPod--or any
portable audio player. Then connect the red and white RCA-style plugs to
the matching inputs on the back of your stereo receiver or boombox.
- Connecting the iPod via iPod dock
To connect using
the iPod dock, you first need to purchase an iPod dock accessory. Using
the same type of Y cable, connect the small plug to the matching jack on
the rear of the iPod dock. Then, plug the red and white RCA-style plugs
to the matching inputs on the back of your stereo receiver or boombox.
This method provides a line-level connection that maintains a volume
level to your stereo system and allows the iPod to recharge.
- Connecting the iPod via wireless FM transmitter
You
can also connect your iPod to your stereo wirelessly. You'll need to
purchase a compatible wireless FM transmitter--there are several
available--and connect it your iPod. Once your transmitter is connected,
simply tune any nearby radio to the correct frequency, and you'll be
listening to your own iPod-powered mini radio station.

the most common cause of this is the front tire, in fact that is the only real issue with front end wobble as long as the fork bearing is not loose in the steering head, have the dealer check and adjust that, but if it was loose enough to cause a problem you would fell a clunk in the heandle bars over drive way entrances ands such.
Warmed up motorcycle, noticed gas
Hello. It is absolutely essential for you to get a helper and a flashlight and start this engine, move the petcocks into each position all the time looking for that pesky fuel leak. As you so aptly indicated, the most suspect item is the petcock. The sluggish feeling may be a separate issue, most likely associated with either water in the fuel or crud in the carb. I recommend a bottle of dry gas into the tank and a bottle of seafoam fuel additive added to the fuel as per dosage instructions on the bottle. Do find that leak and repair it before it leads to something more seriious. Joe

have the battery tested to see if there are any dead cells. if possible have it tested under a load. autozone should be able to do that or if you are in canada canadian tire. the charging voltage sounds about right tho the amps it is putting out would be helpful.
i suggest also checking relays associated to the auxullary lamps as well. basically a quick test would be to start the motorcycle and remove one of the connections to the battery. if it quits it's the alternator, if it keeps going it was the battery. a word of caution do this outside in a well ventilated area and wear safety goggles.
