you will need a set of 4 vacumn gauges, there are some fittings to hook a vacumn to each manifold and adjust the set screws to get the same vacumn through each cylnder, this can take some time and you will need a remote fuel supply and possible a shop fan so the engine will not overheat. poor rings or valves and valve clearances can affect the vacumn so a compression test and tune is necessary first

Its running rich. That means too much fuel. Solution

Mate! doesn't sound good on the the bike front. The parts for your bike are pretty cheap and easy to get.Its great to read a description of the problem that is real and accurate. It sounds like the bottom end has done a bearing. At the least its the bottom of the conrod. When riding home you would have been very easy on the bike. The problem would have still been there but the throttle may have slowed it and dulled the sound.Great of you to get it home. Now the bike is home, what is it doing? If not a lot.Remember, oil is cheaper than metal.

There should be a little viewing window where you can check the oil, it should be on the right side of the engine... right above that should be a little cap that unscrews... oil goes there. pick the bike up level to check the oil... you should see the oil in the window if you put enough in. Coolant is under the left side fairing i believe. you will most likely have to take it off the fill the reservoir.

Sounds like the bike has been doing wheeles and burnouts. As the clutch plates wear the cable needs adjusting. You have reached the end of the actuating cam. New plates are your best bet.

If the sidestand switch is acting up that would explain the lack of spark. Bypass the switch and see if your problem disappears.

Check the spark plugs and the carbs.Maybe the carbs need cleaning.
Measure the fuel pump gas supply too (lit per minute)

Hi, Sounds like a sticky float valve in one or more of the carbs. When sitting, the carb overfills causing the revving when you start it, then it dies cause the carb isn't filling. Also check the exup valve in the intake, it could also cause the exact same symptoms but because of too much back pressure once it starts. Good Luck to you, hope this helps Fixya!

Hi, M_dean09 if your bike has been sitting idle for months or years and you did not do any pre-storage maintenance I feel your pain it will probably have a dead battery and not want to start or if it starts it will idle and run poorly, here are the following steps necessary to complete in order to get your bike back to an acceptable running condition.
1. If your battery was 2-3 years old when you last had the bike running you should replace it.
2. If you believe your battery might still be serviceable remove it from the bike and put it on a 1 or 2 amp trickle charger for 24 hours. If it is the old lead acid type with visible cells and acid levels fill each cell to the top line with distilled water and replace the caps, run the vent tube into a plastic or styrofoam cup, any cells that are cloudy/milky replace the battery.
3. After charging remove the leads and let the battery sit for a couple of hours then check the battery voltage with a volt meter, you should have 12.5 volts or better, any readings in the 11 volt range you need to do a proper load test on the battery and replace as necessary, any readings in the 10 volt range you have a dead cell and replace the battery.
4. Drain and flush fuel tank, google " how to clean a motorcycle gas tank" find a couple forums to view the different options available.
5. Remove your air cleaner and clean and re-oil per Mfg. specifications.
6. Remove the carburetor, disassemble and decontaminate with a carb dip or if you have EFI remove injectors and clean with carb spray and compressed air
7. Remove fuel valve and filter disassemble and clean as necessary, remove fuel lines and replace with new ones.
8. Replace spark plug with a new one and check for spark.
