Fuel in oil
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
While it is possible for the rings to be worn considering the age, only a compression test could confirm this.
Alternately, the possibility is that the carbs flooded and overflowed into the engine through the intake manifold at one time inknown to you. Draining the contaminated oil from the engine and replacing the oil in most cases should address the issue.
Of course if flooding still occurs, it may be necessary likewise to pull out the carbs for a cleanup with particular attention to the valves coupled to the floats.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
I have an fj 1100 I am having an overflow problem,
Check your fuel pump and fuel pump relay that they work properly.Overflow is a carb fail, usually from the floaters. If your bike works better with the choke on that means that it needs extra air and that means it is too rich.Try to use stock idle jets and 4-5 numbers lower main jets.Check the spark plugs after a good ride for brown color in the center. If they are black means it is still rich mixture.Lower main jet another 3-4 numbers.Carb's needles in stock position (if they are adjustable).
Oil drain plug 1984 fj1100
Drain plug will be a 17 mm. Can be on the side but usually on the bottom. If pipes are not aftermarket they should'nt be in the way. If you can't get to it w/a socket then use a combination wrench. Don't overmuscle when reinstalling cause bolt is steel but engine is aluminum....Caution is the word ! Oh yea and pick up an owners manual at your dealer..invaluable...Good Luck to you friend...Tim
Clutch master cylinder rebuilt, brand new clutch
Hi there,
Some times the clutch systems needs a vacuum
pump to bleed the system up to pressure. Also
note whilst bleeding the system don't let the reservoir run out of fluid. Also check if there is any other bleed nipples in this system. They all need bleeding.Hope this helps your problem.
Regrades Lighten
Push starter button and no start
Hello,
Evansville! Nice part of the World.
Bud's Harley Shop still there?
O.k. daft thing is the off run switch on the handlebars turned to off?
Failing this will the bike start and run off bumping (Push start).
If it does take a look at the battery (Maybe Dead cell/s) or Starter solenoid wire/fuse.
Solenoid is located near the battery it is the cylindrical item with the main pos+ wire from battery going to it.
Good Luck! could do with a new Bud's Harley 'T' shirt as mines worn out.

Tach moving slowly
Bad plugs or other electrical problems can mess with an electronic tach. Yours has a cable so it sounds like a mechanical drive. If so, it is probably your drive cable. take it off and pull out the inner drive spring, clean it well, as well as the inside of the outter cable, then either use a light grease or oil to lube it before re-installing it. Check both ends of the drive cable for wear or rounding off.
How do you change front
You need to take them to a Yamaha dealer because you can't do them without seal installers that are very expensive. You will damage the new seals & possibly the forks too. You can save some money by removing the forks yourself. Take off the wheel & fender. Unbolt the caliper& slide them off the rotors BUT DON"T pull the brake handle while off Or you'll push the brakes closed. Now loosen the pinch bolts & slide the forks out of the crowns. Take them to a dealer.
