Year modal of dirt bike
If that is all your vin number has to offer, it doesn't follow the rules of street bike vin numbers, usually, the first letters are a code, then the first digit is street or dirt, 2nd is model, 3rd is a letter for liquid or air, 4th is engine size, 5th is HP, 6th is check digit, 7th is year, the 8th should be a letter for the city of manuf.and finally the series number. All these digits are codes, you can look them up on line. Hope this helps.
Need to reverse lookup a 9digit serial-number
Don't know how to look up by serial number but if you have the VIN number, you can look up the bike at this site...
http://www.pronto-net.com/vin_app/vin.php
and get lots of info on it.
HOW TO LOOK UP A 8 DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER
The vin (vehicle identification number) number will either be stamped on the head stock of the frame or on a compliance plate riveted to the frame somewhere.
The head stock is where the forks pivot in the frame - so in behind the headlight on the frame it self.
Or the vin plate will be in that spot or close to it - they are easy to see you just need to look.
hope this helps

I have a 1981 Yamaha
Hi, There is usually a dash symbol in the engine number. Assuming the number is 5k5-008130 then that engine number is for a 1981 XJ550H. Regards Barry
I have a 1974 Yamaha
Assuming you have slackened off the fork top nut before removing the fork from the bike, and you have removed the screw in the fork lower, this secures the damper into the fork, next you will have removed the dust cover and seal retaining clip from the top of the leg, undo the fork top nut completly and remove the spring noteing which end of the spring is at the top, for replacment purposes.Next fasten the lower of the fork into a vice on the flat ( not tubular surface of the fork leg) push the stancion all the way down to the bottom of the leg, then pull up sharply, repeating this in/out action to hammer out the seal from the leg until the seal/ bushes/ and washer have come out, this mat take some quick action movments to remove or separate the leg, forks which have not been appart in some time may need some heat on the fork seal. ARea of the lower leg
Bike was removed from storage for over twenty
You will need to unplug and replug all the connections in the wiring harness. Chances are the fuses all need to be replaced (internal separation).Main switch could have corrosion on internal contacts. You may have to uninstall the points and reinstall them , they are probably shorting to the motor. Remember the motorcycle uses power from the battery to run the motors electrics not from the alternator . If you have charging issues after you get the bike running it could be worn out brushes in the alternator. Check all your electrical connections and you should get spark.
Can you tell me the size motor and year from this
No but your local Yamaha Dealer should be able to from the vin Number. It is generally on the Bike Label, or punched into the frame in several places, in some countries it is also on the registration disc.

I need to remove rear wheel for tire change on 2003 vstar 650
Hi .... The Xs is conventional, ie straight out the back. Put a plank of wood or something similar under the centre stand, this'll give you a bit of extra height and once the spindle is out the wheel will come out slightly to one side. Problem comes if someone has fitted an aftermarket custom exhaust which reduces egress. Also if you still have standard twin exhausts you may have to lower swingarm (by disconnecting lower shock bolts (thus the plank) to remove spindle. Remember to note spacers as it comes apart and regrease spindle on re-assembly.

1. #1 test. Obtain a 12 volt circuit tester, the type that looks like an ice pick with a wire coming out of the handle. With ignition on, hold the tip of the circuit test against the post of the coil, the post that is marked with a + The light in the tester should light up, meaning you have battery power. If you don't have electrical power there, trace back to battery to find out why. If you do have power at that point
2. Moving the the opposite side of the coil and place the tip of the tester again the post marked with a minus. With the key on, crank the engine. The light in the tester should flash. These 2 test have just tested your battery and ignition system. Bill
Location of serial numbers on a yamaha 340 enticer?
There are 2 sets of serial numbers one set on the motor and one on the frame. The ones on the frame are on the "gooseneck", (where the triple clamps to your forks are connected). The other set on that motor are on the center cases on the top of the engine. As I recall they are just above the left side engine cover.
