Have you checked the clutch fluid level? If it's low, it's usualy due to excessively worn friction plates. I know 2300 miles doesn't sound like a lot, but I myself have eaten clutches in less time, especialy if I'm doing some extreme riding. Make sure you clean the top of the clutch fluid resevoir before removing it. Start there, diagnose from that.

Rattle in the top end of my engine when cold

With your bike being so new I wouldn't think an oil pump problem. I have an 07 ZX14 and when warming up it has a "ticky" oil starved sound too. As well built as Triumph's are probably just an odd warm up circut the oil goes thru. Depending on what type of oil you use I suggest adding an oil stabilizer like Lucas or Amsoil.Just be sure to buy the correct additive. They make it for conventional oil and synthetic. This should be done at the time of an oil change not just added to what you have already. Wouldn't want to overfill the case. Do you have a service manual? If not, they can be a huge help. They can cost upwards of $100.00 but may help with small issue's like this. And starting a good relationship with your local dealer is always a main objective. Most will help with over the counter problems if you drop by now and then being that "local" guy. It is a misconseption they all just want your money. Most are just bike people helping bike people. Though not always so feel it out.

I am trying to install a bagster tank cover and

Take the seat off (2 allen bolts at rear of the seat), then there is a nut & bolt at the base of the tank.
The tank can be lifted slightly for your needs, or if you want to take the tank fully off the tank slides back towards the seat area & then you need to disconect the hoses.

Squeaky rear suspension

Could it be as simple as needing a clean and lube of the 'dog bones' and lower assembly pivots. This happened on my 01, an easy fix. Cheers

Triumph sprint st 1995 wont idle, getting good

Try changing your spark plugs, I have recently had a similar problem with a CBR900, spark plugs seemed to be fine (held against frame outside of engine) but didn't actually work under compression, changed for new and bike now runs like a dream.

Starter motor just spins on a triumph sprint st 955i

As a rule motorcycle starters connect directly to a gear or through a chain that will drive that gear to turn the engine. This gear the starter connects to, is a one way clutch, in other words it will only lock in the direction the starter turns it, and it will turn freely in the other direction. If you are positive that the starter is turnning, this one way clutch gear would be the thing to check. Usually this envolves removing one of the engine side covers to get to it. With the starter removed , you can check it by spinning the gear in both directions. If it spins in both directions is not good! Also, If you just remove only the side cover you can see if by turning the starter the gear spins. If the gear turns without engage the crank then you will know that the the one way clutch gear is no good as well. (do not run the engine, just spin it and turn it off, it's only to check.) Be known that, I do not know the configuration of this motorcycle. However, the above info is true to most motorcycles. Hope it helps you! Ferni

How to take apart the

Hi,

you will be needing an Allen wrench and Bolt extractor tool to take the ignition switch apart.

Step 1 - Position the Motorcycle

Position your motorcycle in a flat, level surface with a lot of lighting. Either outdoors if the weather is clear or indoors with a lot of lighting. Set your tools close by.

Step 2 - Disconnect the Battery

Remove your rider's seat to access the ignition area of your motorcycle and set aside. Disconnect your battery. Always start removing with the negative terminal wire lead and then the positive terminal wire lead. Never positive before negative. You do not want to result into burnout anything nor short circuit.

Step 3 - Loosen the Bolts

Loosen the two Allen head pinch bolts that hold the upper triple tree to the front forks. This is also the large bracket directly above the handlebars.

Step 4 - Remove the Damper

Remove steering damper if your motorcycle has one. Unscrew its bolts that hold it up on the upper triple tree. Leave the opposite end of the steering damper attached to the frame. Simply just pivot it opposite the triple tree.

Step 5 - Remove the Nut

Remove the 32 mm nut and washer that hold up the upper triple tree to the steering stem then pull the upper triple tree and off the stem and fork.

Step 6 - Trace the Wiring

Trace the original wiring until you locate the connector in your motorcycle. Disconnect the connector but separating the ignition with from its wiring harness.

Step 7 - Remove the Switch

Remove the entire upper triple tree and ignition switch from your motorcycle and lay down on a wide table. Make sure this area is free of clutter so you do not lose any small parts.

Step 8 - Set the Switch

Set ignition switch facing down and locate the two bolts that hold the ignition switch to the underside of the triple tree. The ignition switch may be secured with either one-time use bolts or hex head bolts but either way, it must be removed with a bolt extractor tool.

Step 9 - Remove the Switch

Gently remove the ignition switch from the upper triple clamp. Now you can fix the loose wires.

I wish you good luck.

Regards.
