1
Clean the underside of the motor with soap and water to remove any dirt and oil build-up that could contaminate the motor.
-
2
Warm your motorcycle to operating temperature by starting
the motor and letting the oil warm up or by taking a short ride. The oil
will expand slightly and flow better to give you a more accurate
reading.
-
3
Park the motorcycle on a level surface and turn the ignition
switch to the "Off" position. Place your Triumph on its center stand,
if equipped with one, to provide additional stability.
-
4
Place your catch basin directly below the oil drain plug on
the underside of the motor and remove the drain plug with the
appropriately-sized socket. Allow the oil to drain until the flow has
reduced to a thin trickle then replace the drain plug.
-
5
Locate the oil sump drain plug and center your catch basin
below it. Remove the drain plug and allow the oil to drain until the
flow is reduced to a thin trickle then replace the drain plug. Replace
the drain plug. Note that this step is only required on certain models,
such as the Thunderbird Sport and older "oil-in-frame" models.
-
6
Remove the oil filter with an oil filter wrench and discard the old filter.
-
7
Fill the new oil filter with fresh oil, coating the inner
lip of the filter lightly with oil to provide a stronger seal before
screwing the filter onto the motor. Tighten the filter by hand until it
is secure.
-
8
Add your engine oil into the oil tank. Replace the cover and wipe away any spilled oil.
-
9
Locate the engine sump bolt, located at the base of the
cylinders and the carburetors. Remove the bolt and add half a quart of
oil into the sump. Replace the bolt and wipe away any spilled oil. Note
that this step is only required on older "oil-in-frame" models.
Gas tank purge valve
It's a rarity but check fuel line routing, Make sure it's not close to any hot engine or exhaust heat.
Screaching fuel pump! triumph america 865
Ok check your fuel filter first, then check fuel supply, If fuel is restricted the fuel pump will starve for fuel. You should check fuel pressure at intake. It does not sound like a fuel problem. Also does it happen at idle or under acceleration.
2006 EFI Bonneville
No need to remove tank. I use an 18mm (i think) deep socket to loosen plug and slide a 8 inch piece of tygon tubing over the plug to screw it out. Insert new plug into the clear tubing to engage (start) the threads of new plug. Most hardware/home supply stores sell the clear soft plastic tubing very cheap. Take a new plug with you to get tubing that will fit snugly on the spark plug insulator. Tightend to specified torque setting and ride. Do not overtighten, as the aluminum head will strip easily.
I rode about 80 miles
Check float level It might be to high Or gas is going by needle and seat Maybe rebuild carb MOPAR KENNY
I have a 2007 triumph bonneville with 4700 miles.
My front brakes would pulsate. I replaced the front disc because it had warped but after 10000kms I had to do it again. After a lot of research I finially got the right answer from a brake disc technician. The hub was warped and needed to be machined, otherwise the disc would end up doing the same. He also replaced the front disc with a floating disc. So far (5000kms) the problem hasn't returned!

Take the switch assembly apart and try cleaning the button. If that does not fix the problem you will have to change the switch assembly , unless Triumph offers a replacement button for there switch.

You had best get the bike to a dealer for repairs. If the bike is making the sounds as you say, is is highly likely the tranny will self destruct at any moment > like at 60 mph in heavy traffic. You are risking your life if you continue to ride the bike.
How to reset diagnostic
The only way to do this is through a Triumph dealer at a cost of approx £40 or get a mac tools ET80 @ approx £79 which will read any engine management issues that you will have in the future and reset them as well, at the moment these are the only two solutions.
If you cant find a mac tools dealer then try

Can I lower a 2008 bonneville?
Yes, but why do you want to lower it below factory spec height? You'll spend a lot of money and time just to get the bike to perform the rightway again.
Right mirror stalk spins on handlebar
Hi there, have just solved this problem on my 865cc Bonnie.
The problem is the mirror stems stepped shoulder protrudes beyond the black lever housing that the mirror locates in.
Either obtain a washer that the end of the mirror stem will pass through, or do what i did and grind-file about 3mm from the end of the stem.
Annoying problem solved!
Bonneville T100 Gear Change
Do check if not drain and refill the gear box, but check with your dealer that it will not affect your warranty. a little self help may prevent time consuming and inconvenient repairs at this stage, but remember gears are clunky and come in for a lot of abuse, reliable as they are.
