2002 Triumph Daytona 955i Questions & Answers
Hi having problems with the speedo on my 2002
This is a common problem with the Daytona's 2002+. Typically its the charging system and if the battery level gets below 12v the instrument panel will not function properly (LED display will read or flash something other than what is normal). Recommend charging the battery and checking the voltage @ the battery while running. If voltage drops as RPM increase: Replace reg/rect. The Stator my also go bad too. Too T/S (remove tail section disconnect the 3 wire connector coming from the stator and pin check a/c voltage across two pins at a time. check condition of connector and wires, if it feels stiff and brittle replace wire loom and check 3 pin connector under the fuel tank. If still bad, should be Approx 45v a/c @ idle, replace stator OR send it out for a re-wind. It's cheaper more durable and you get a 1 year warranty. I recommend Custom re-wind for this.
Owner of a 2002 50K+ mile and still runs like new
To access battery I need to remove the riders
Take off pillion seat (with key) then you will see 2 x 8mm bolts under the rear of the front seat, these are holding the seat down with plates, remove, slide seat towards the back of the bike and the seat comes off.
Speedo not working when lights are on
you probably have your instrument panel dimmer turned off or all the way down. When the lights are off it assumes it's daytime and your instrument lights are turned all the way up. When you turn your lights on the instrument lights dim to the setting on the dimmer. Some dimmers when you turn them all the way down, click to an off position, or when all the way down look like they're off.
No speedo replaced stator and rect last summer
Hi. It will be the sensor on the front wheel, it may need a clean but be very careful as it is very fragile. If it is broken then just superglue it up and put back in carefully. Hope this helps
I have had no end of problems with my triumph
Getting to the plugs is easy enough, but you will need to remove some parts.First remove the seat. Then the tank has to come off.- remove the two screws by the head stock- lift up tank gently and disconnect fuel line (do not force it. squeeze the sides and it will release then pull firmly downward, disconnect the two electrical connectors, pull off the two rubber tubes)- remove the bolt (8mm) where the tank meets the frame. (there is a sleeve inside you will need to push out once the bolt is removed)Remove the air box cover.Remove the throttle tubes (black horn shaped plastic. there are three)-two screws on each.Remove air box.Now you will be able to see the spark plug wires which lead to a coil pack. One on each plug. Rotate the coil a little to loosen then and pull firmly straight up.
Oil capacity
you will need 4ltr can of appropriate oil their is a sight glass on the bottom of the clutch cover it has two marks to the right side the oil should be between the two marks keep the bike upright so as to get a level reading do not overfill above top mark . triumph recommend mobil 1 racing t4 oil or sae 10w40 or15w50 fully synthetic you should use about 3.7ltrs so you will have some oil left for top ups dont forget to change the oil filter this is a must do this is located in the belly pan underneath engine as is the drain plug this will need a new copper washer as the old washer will leak if reused.
