2006 Suzuki GS 500 F Questions & Answers
I have a 2006 Suzuki
Hi, I would still suspect the battery. Lights and ignition do not really draw much current neither does the bike when running.. Your battery goes almost flat when the starter is engaged lots of amps are required. Try this check: remove the battery (undo negative lead first please) then connect a high wattage bulb across the terminals see how long it takes for the bulb to dim. If the bulb is still bright after an hour re charge the battery (please use a dedicated bike charger max output 1 amp). Re-fit the battery (connect positive lead first please). If bike still does not start check starter solenoid is activating it should click when you press the start button. Hope this helps.
I have a 07 suzuki
As long as the Bike/Battery is a 12v system it shouldn't have been a problem. Hooking up something backwards IS a huge problem. Usually there is a main fuse near the battery. I would get a 12v automotive test light and start tracing the wire from the positive side of the battery along until you don't find voltage anymore..
I have a 2006 Suzuki GS500F and it is leaking oil
It is most likely a gasket. I'm guessing the clutch plates might have been replaced and the old gasket has been reused. It's common for them to tear when you take the clutch cover off and unless you are very careful and use some kind of sealant where the tears happen it can cause leaks later.
The best way to fix it is to take the clutch cover off and clean all of the old gasket from the clutch cover and the engine side also. You might need to scrape parts of it off with something sharp. Razor blades work well. Just be very careful not to scratch the sealing surface of the cover or the engine side. Then fit a new gasket. They usually aren't too expensive but it does vary from model to model.
Battery went flat.tried to push and jump start but
Take that battery to local auto parts store and put a load test on it, it probably won't take a load anymore. = Replace battery.
If that battery is good, then check your solenoid, sometimes they chatter when they are bad, or if the battery is low
How do I remove the front brake disc pads on my
12 mm wrench or socket to remove the caliper.
Once caliper off , compress the cylinders with c-clamp or big screwdriver.
Remove the pads, one at a time and take note if there is a difference between inner and outer.
Some have a pin that goes through the upper part of the pad, of course you'll have to remove the pin before the pad will come out.
Install the new pads, install pins if yours has pins, install the caliper and tighten.
NOTE: Before you test drive squeeze the front brakes severeral time to push out the calipers to the disc, otherwise when you go to stop there wont be any brakes unless you pump it back up first.
You shouldn't have to bleeed them or anything. you shouldn't have to add any brake fliud either.
Can be done in less than 1/2 hour.
After how many miles do i change my oil?
Depends on what kind of oil you use rule of thumb is 3000 miles or the end of your rideing season every year synthetic oil can be chainged every 6000 miles but should be checked to see if it is clean from time to time I have heard of people changeing synthetic oil every 10,000 miles
I have tiny oil leak (it is oil because the level
You need to locate the leak on the engine, first. It's probably just a bum seal in one of the oil cooler lines, if your bike is equipped with those.
In any event, most oil leaks will be simple to fix, unless you have to replace engine gaskets. Those aren't so easy, but I bet you could still do it.
No power when turning bike on, battery is good
Sounds like you have a blown main fuse usually located on the starter solenoid next to the battery. It is possible that the fuse is in the main box too. If the fuses are good the electrical contact base under ignition key may need to be cleaned or replaced (unlikely on a bike this new)
Take off is sluggish and throttle response is slow
Have your dealer check the computer, there may be a problem with the electronics, or, if the GSX-R has ride-by-wire, the throttle control program may be tweaked...or, just buy a Yamaha...Juuuust kidding...good luck fixing your ride.
As soon as I start the gs500f a 20 amp fuse blows
Sounds like time to remove the fareings, gas tank and seat.
There may be a loose somewhere on the bike. Remove the seat and gas tank to gain access to the wiring harness. Get a volt Ohmmeter as you may need to check continuity at various points. Start at the battery, then the fuses and the wires connecting to the fuses. Inspect for burned wires, abraded wires, loose and/or dirty connections, bad connectors and loose wires. This means the mass of wires inside the headlight must also be inspected. Check the handlebar kill switch and the side stand kill switch as well. Go all the way to the ignition system. Check the key switch. Put it on "run" and check for power through the switch as you jiggle the wires. A spark can blow a fuse. A hot wire thst is going to ground due to an abraided wire will blow a fuse. a bad electrical part like a shorted horn, headlight or switch can blow a fuse. Find the bad connection and you should be able to fix it.
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?
