I have an 86 rm 250,replaced water and oil seals twice still getting water in oil. What gives?
The problem is common in 2 stroke watercooled bikes ,what happens is the head gasket leaks and the leaking burnt gases pass the gasket and sneak into the water jacket which highly compresses the cooling system and blows the water past the water pump seals and into the gearbox, mixing with the oil and making a vile mayonnaise mixture, make sure when you fitted the seals you fitted them the right way around the main sealing lips should both face their fluid they are keeping out and the impeller shaft should be free from and scoring or damage where the seals touch it.p.s im a fully qualified motorcycle mechanic with over 20 years experience so im not just guessing at an answer
Wont start
check the battery with a load test to see if there is a dead cell. go to a battery shop to have this done
2004 rmz 250 was riding started to smoke heavily
If it was white smoke coming out you may have blown a head gasket. If it is water cooled and there are no signs of external leakage then it only has one other way to go, inside.
If you have an oil dipstick, pull it out and check to see if your oil looks more like a milk shake sludge. Even if you can't see it, try dumping your oil from the sump and take out your oil filter. (unless it is a 2 stroke)
2008 rmz 250 4 stroke i was riding it and all of a
Remove the spark plug, put the bike in fourth or fifth gear then try a jump start but with the key turned off. If the rear wheel locks up when you jump on and release the clutch then the piston has probably seized up OR the kick start-to-clutch hub gearing is messed up. The best thing to do is to remove the left engine side cover and look at the kick start mechanism. You may need to remove the clutch assembly for a full inspection. With the clutch removed the rotor ( crankshaft flywheel ) should turn. If it will not turn then a seized piston, broken cam chain or dropped valve is likely. If the rotor does turn then the kick start mechanism is the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks!
Well the motor locked up
If you are running 5th gear mid throttle the compression in the motor wasnt enough to push the piston back down
for the record ( i run a ts 250 savage 2 stroke ) i,ve done it my self it happends
try to keep it the power band you will be fine
good luck.
My 2008 Suzuki rm z 250 4 stroke locked up the
alot of four strokes will lock up like this they get vapor locked the best thing to do is let it set do not try and start it until it free's up it could bend the valves but i dont kno about the smoking unless you tried to start it while locked up

I have a 2002 Suzuki Ozark 250 ATV. I only has
I don't have a solution but I do have the exact same problem, '03 or '04 (not sure) Suzuki 250 Quadrunner Ozark, really low hrs, left in storage for 2.5 yrs, gas went bad, cleaned it out, now hard to start and won't idle by itself.
I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it out, but did not replace anything, and it will still not start very easily or idle. Before I took the carb apart I thought it was flooding because it would start with the accelerator wide open, but when I would let off, it would die again. Whats going on?? I really don't want to pay to have it fixed.
Witch marks on magnitio i use to set valve timing
With the valve rocker covers off and magneto inspection plug and centre plug removed, turn motor using nut on magneto, counter-clockwise until a line appears centrally in the inspection window. This will be at Top Dead Centre (TDC).
To check this, all rockers should at rebound with all valves closed. There should be a tiny amount of play on all rockers.
If not, (being a 4 stroke) rotate motor one full turn counter-clockwise.
All engine work or strip downs must commence from the position of TDC.
Cheers!
What is the price value of a 2004 RMZ 250
well if it has a title runs well and show no sign of excessive wear or tear meaning no parts are needed to be replaced, you should be looking at about $2200 high end $1700 quick sale. At least here in Ohio
