Sagging fork springs

You may have an air adluster, schrader valve with which to add air pressure, or there may be settings on the rebound and damping settings, are the fork seals leaking oil at the sliders of the forks, springs do wear out as well, some bicks have anti dive solenoids activated via front brake activation and limit the compression of the front forks upon rapid braking, , you maty need springs, seals and thicker fork oil its hard to say exactly what you have going on but its one or more of these.

I have a 1998 gsx

Although I am not familiar with this bike I have owned several that have had similar problems. Please understand this is my best guess. If this bike has a vacuum advance I would start there. As the speed increases the vacuum in the carb does also,One of the carbs will have a small tube going down towards the side of the bike, most likely around the left side.(not 100% sure)Behind the plate will be the vacuum advance. If it is not getting proper engine vacuum because the hose is cracked ,worn or disconnected these things will clack and sound like the engine is about to explode. They also wear out after time.Again this is my best guess on this.good luck

To check your oil always have your bike upright and level. Using the center stand always makes for a quick level check before a ride. Some windows have a high and low mark on them, or a center dot on them for correct level, or a high/low bar behind the window to judge correct level. You may have to take your carburetors apart, clean and inspect them. Fluctuating idle is normally an air leak or improperly synchronized carburetors. Inspect your intake manifolds for cracks and separation , take off your carb tops and inspect the diaphragms for cracks, Inspect your float needles for wear, and make sure all the jets and passageways are clear. Check air screw settings and synchronize your carburetors(make sure that one carburetor is not set higher than the other three.) Your bike is almost 20 years old and cracking rubber is now an issue.

My 1990 GSX600F was

when you install a new float, it has to be adjust the float is going up too high and over filling. There is a guage you can use, but take the bowl off and bend the little flap down just a little right over the top of the needle valve and that will lessen the amount of fuel going into the bowl.

Im replacing the front and

Well, the oldest manual I have handy is for a '94, it specs:

Front sprocket nut 84 ft lbs
rear sprocket nuts 43.5 ft lbs
axle nut 72.7 ft lbs

Older manuals spec 67.5 for rear sprocket nut, this was changed to 43.5 due to the large number of problems with stripping nuts/bolts.

Check here to see if your bike is listed, that may help:

I have a 1999 katana

It still sounds like your pilot jets in the carburetor are clogged. Just soaking will not clear plugged jets. The jets need to be removed, and manually cleared out. If you take a single strand from a piece of wire, it is usually small enough to pass through the pilot jet without damaging the orifice. After you have passed the wire through the jet, soak it again to remove any remaining deposits. Then blow the jet clear with compressed air. You should be able to see light through the jet orifice if it is clear.

95 gsx600 katana. I missed

If it shuts down when putting in gear I think the clutch cable itself may be broken or the activating pin inside the engine. First off. Test the cable. Locate the clutch on the bike. Right hand side of the engine. On the top of the engine casing but to the right hand side is a lever connected to the clutch cable. Pulling the clutch lever on the handle bar should cause this lever to move. If it does not the cable is broken or needs adjustment.
Replacement is pretty straightforward. Unscrew it at the engine casing. Then unclip it from the lever by pulling the cable away from the lever then forward so it comes out of the groove and then down. Take note of the cable routing so that when you replace it goes back the same way. You may need to remove the fairing and tank.
If the cable tests fine you will need to open the clutch casing.Let me know if you need more help

I have a tapping in

I read that your gsx600 has a screw type valve lash adjustment to simplify maintenance.

But, I think you should get the manual to find out how.

I looked for a free download but it wasn't available.

Good luck on this.

Clutch disk moving back and

If you are sure that the disks are the right ones then your problem can be generated by only one thing: the compression springs are not doing their job because either were badly reinstalled or are completely missing.
Dismantle the clutch again and this time put it back correctly.

2000 600 Katana dies after

Try checking the spark plugs.Watch it when it backfires, it can set your air box on fire.
1. Does engine crank or turnover?
2. If engine turns over:
a. Gas in tank? Gas turned on??
b. Check choke as previoulsy posted.
c. Is battery weak? (if so, it won't give you the amps needed to start the bike, regardless of the volts even if it turns the bike over).
3. If engine isnt cranking:
a. Make sure switches are in correct position.(kill switches, ignition etc)
b. Check battery for proper charge.(refer back to 2a above).
Also get checked the engine if its getting over heated this can be the costly issue.Check for fuel leak in the tank side.
Thanks.

I have a 2003 GSX-R

The problem that you have is with the over running clutch that starter motor turns, not the starter.Once the starter motor turns the clutch should lock up and then when it starts the engine will disengage it,when it works correctly. As with any clutch [overrunning or mechanical] they wear out over time and begin to slip in both directions. When it slips during cranking, the starter motor will run but the engine will stop rolling over, you need it replaced.
