2000 Suzuki GSX 600 F (Katana) - Page 5 Questions & Answers
I just put a brand new battey in my 95 katana but it still.loses power and dies and wont start
Sounds like your regulator/rectifier has failed. This is a fairly common fault on GS and GSX models, particularly the smaller capacity (below 750cc) models. Did the oil level fall below minimum at any time, because this can cause the generator on some models to overheat, causing a power surge which can burn out the regulator. Get the generator checked and fit a new regulator/rectifier.
Where can i buy a carb float bowl for my 2006 Suzuki GSX600F Kanata???
unless the bowl itself is damaged speak to suzuki as they may have new old stock to sell cheap to give them garage space, otherwise there is other mods to make it run slightly easier, like maybe a bandit 600 carb bank?if its the carb body itself, sounds screwed to me (no pun intended) check the threads and see.
How long does a chain normally last on a sport bike, katana 600,
It all depends on the quality of the chain and sprockets, how it is looked after and how the bike is ridden. I have known them last from 25 minutes to 10,000 miles. If you replace the chain you should replace the sprockets as well ( the chain will last longer.)
Only starts with choke on
Check your main fuse? or maybe theres something wrong with your stator/rectifier and the bike can't get enough power on higher gears. Try switching straight up to 5th

Are you sure the discs or calipers wernt damaged or bent in the accident.
You dont normally need to strip them to bleed air.
If the seals are not leaking, probably wont help to replace them

Has the bike been sitting for a while? If it has, then the carburetor(s) probably needs serviced. It might also be a clogged fuel strainer (usually located in the tank) If the service history of this bike is unknown, then check for a really dirty air filter(s). Try to keep the bike running by giving it some throttle. If it stays running, then the carburetor(s) will probably need to be cleaned and rebuilt. If it still shuts down, then verify fuel flow. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor(s) and observe fuel flow when the fuel valve is turned on. Fuel should flow out in a steady stream. If it doesn't, then clean the strainer. If it does, then drain the fuel out of the tank reconnect the line(s) and refill the tank with fresh fuel. If the bike has been sitting for a while, you could have a fuel volatility problem. I hope that this information helps you solve your problem. Thanks for trying FixYa.

This is definitely a carburetor problem. On a vehicle this old, and I use the term old loosely, the carburetor can easily become clogged by varnish/debris. As a start, take off the air filter, and get three things from the store: a new air filter, SeaFoam, and carburetor cleaner. Put some seafoam into the tank, and then, while the engine is running, put just a little down the intake. Spray some carburetor cleaner. this should smooth out the idle, at least, if it is a block. I imagine, though, if that doesn't work, the best course of action would be to totally disassemble and clean out the carburetor.
Idle races by itself after
That is usually found to be an air leak between the carb and the cylinder. Hardened rubber seals and intake manifold ducting are the usual culprits.

Either your friends are playing with you or they have no idea at all what they are talking about. There is no such thing as a re-torque of the valves. The valves are not screwed or bolted in place. How can you torque a screw or bolt that does not exist? The valve gap , aka valve lash, may need to be reset but no torque on the valves is possible. If resetting the valves, set the gap at .006 intake and .011 exhaust. There will be a lock nut, (not shown in diagram), on each of the adjuster screws. Your bike has two exhaust valves and two intake valves per cylinder.

It sounds like it is a stuck float bowl, you can tap on the base of your carb and see if it frees it up, if not you will need to rebuild the bottom of your carb, its really cheap , mostly float bowls gaskets and seats and needles.
How do i remove the
Hello
The ignition is a electronic system that contains many different parts that work together to deliver an electrical spark to the spark plugs at the correct time to ignite the compressed fuel and air in the engine cylinders, it not a single part. Please advise what part in the ignition system you wish to replace or remove. I also need to know which model of Katana this is, 1100cc? 750cc? 600cc?
