my suggestion is to get a Haynes manual, theyre definitely worth it in my opinion saved me a few times! other than that bikes are pretty straight forward, its an internal combustion engine it works the same as every other motorcycle engine unless its a rotary engine, but that\'s a whole different story

well.. you can just buy a new choke cable? if youre having trouble sourcing a choke cable then get a universal one from ebay? and yes you can change the carb, just make sure it has the same fittings ect, and ebay is a haven for bike parts!
Can hear grinding noise from front and rear

Honda rebel wont start spark plug casing broke?
is it still sparking? unless moisture has gathered and corroded the internals to the ht lead this shouldn't affect anything major, but it isn't recommended to be running with it in that state
I have a Suzuki 2000 GZ 250 and having idling problems!
My Marauder was running rough until I noticed it was sparking across to the head from the HT lead. I took the spark plug cap off re aligned the HT wires that were all squished to one side, cleaned every connection attached to the coil and frame and just like magic she runs nice and smoothly now. Maybe you could just try cleaning and refitting the spark plug cap.
How do i start my
If it has only sat for a week, then your not in any real trouble. As long as your seals are good and no water has leaked into the gas tank, then it should be able to start right up.
Can hear ticking sound around engine
Hello jerry...does this "ticking" sound like it is coming from the top of the engine...the cylinder head area? You can take a short piece of hose, like a heater hose or even a garden hose, place one end to your ear and the other on the engine, move it around and u can pinpoint the area it is coming from better. I would say that your valves are probably making the ticking noise and need to be adjusted. Either that or an exhaust leak around the pipe and cylinder head, If you haven't adjusted the valves they probably are due for it. I will go ahead give you the specs for them.
Valves are to be adjusted and set on a COLD engine.
Intake Valve .001 to .003
Exhaust Valve .003 to .005
As you can see this is not much of a lash...so normal wear will cause them to start making noise once they get out of adjustment. I hope this helps & good luck with your bike.
I have just purchased a
You should find a key hole on the right side of your bike, below the seat. It isn't obvious, so look for it. Put your ignition key in and turn. The seat will be released.
How to remove gas tank
turn fuel petcock to OFF -- remove the hose.
now remove the seat -- there should be one bolt there at the base of the tank ( remove )
now forward and on the sides of the tank there should also be two bolt ( remove ).
now slide the tank backwards and up and off -- there you go..

Bike starts well, 2006 but only has 1000 miles on
If the bike ran fine prior to putting it in storage and all you did was drain the fuel and disconnect the battery, its likely moisture ( condensation) developed in the carbs while it sat. this type of thing happens when fuel is drained. Your best bet is to remove the carbs and clean the jets. Its my opinion and experience to put fresh fuel in a bike along with (stable) fuel treatment prior to storing them. With the stable added to the fuel, the fuel will hold good for about 1 year.. Replacing the battery and starting them and letting them warm up to operating temp monthly while in storage is always a good idea..
I hope this helps..
