I have a 1999 gsxr

Hey Timothy, I would replace the clutch cable and ask the "shop" for the proper way to adjust the clutch. If the new cable and correct adjustment doesn't fix it, Its time for a clutch inspection..and probably time for new clutch plates. replace the fiber plates and inspect the metal plates for wear and warpage..they need to have a "surface" to them and NOT be SLICK SMOOTH!! PLEASE get one of these and quit guessing about your hot rod !!!! Suzuki GSX R600 97 to 00 GSX R750 96 to 99

Rough running at 4000 rpm

Look for blocked filters. That's the air filter, and also the fuel strainer on the petcock inside the tank. And ensure that there isn't a kinked fuel or breather pipe somewhere under the tank.

'Transmission slips in 1st, all other gears fine,

HI, FIRST THING I WOULD DO IN THIS CASE WOULD BE TO DRAIN THE ENGINE OIL INTO A CLEAN CONTAINER AND CHECK FOR PARTICALS OF METAL, A WORN GEAR COULD HAVE BROKEN TEETH OR DOGS, THIS WOULD BE VISIBLE WHEN POURING THE OIL FROM THE CONTAINER. IT WOULD BE A BIG JOB, REMOVING THE ENGINE AND STRIPING THE BOTTOM END OF THE ENGINE TO REMOVE THE GEARBOX, NO NEED TO STRIP THE TOP END OF THE ENGINE, IF YOU CONTINUE TO USE THIS MACHINE FURTHER DAMAGE WILL OCCURE, CONTAMINATED OIL WILL DAMAGE OTHER ENGINE PARTS, BIG END SHELLS, PISTONS ETC.
HOPE THIS HELPS,PAUL

I don't recall if this bike has fuel injection or carbs but there are products on the market that will help clear out the grot from both. These fuel additives will make sure there are no deposits starting to form in the fuel delivery system.I would also suggest swiching up to a higher octane gasoline or adding an octane booster to the gas to see if that makes a difference. It may also be time to switch out the plugs and the air filter. If the bike has a manual choke sometimes the cable will stretch over time and will need to be tweeked up or replaced in extreme situations to get rid of any slack. The throttle cable will stretch as well over time so adjust any slack you might have in that. You can adjust the throttle stop to bring the RPM's up but it sounds like a bit of TLC,some easily done maintenace and a long ride might shake the problems out. Try doing the above first and see how it goes.Good luck and good riding.

I have to cut my bike off to get it in neutral

The clutch is not releasing sufficiently. While it is applying tension on the selected gear, you will have a lot of trouble disengaging the pins that make that gear move the bike.

This can be from not being properly adjusted.

This can happen when the oil is not the right type, or needs replacing.

This can happen when the clutch is badly worn.

The clutch consists of multiple alternating layers of steel-surfaced disc with aluminum or steel discs with friction material on the sides. Half of these have ears sticking out from the disc, and half have teeth sticking in toward the center. Both the ears and the teeth can wear grooves into the parts they mate with. Once that happens, when you try to release the clutch, instead of the disc separating (oh, so slightly), they stay where they are, being stuck in the grooves they have worn. When this happens, often holding the clutch lever in long enough will cause the clutch to finally release.

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, that the yellow wires would be getting hot is normal as it supplies the charging current.

Offhand, if overly hot, then either the terminal/connector is slightly loose or there are scorched marks creating a corrosion like film. Solution is to scrape clean to expose fresh metal.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

I have a 99 gsxr750 and i hit a bump it started

no the dc power in the battery isnt controlled by the rectifier,as the rectifier converts ac to dc. You need to find the fuse that is blown. There may be damage to some wire as well, the bump could have left some wire in a pinch. All the fuses are not in one place so test all aof the fuses..There could be an ignition wire off, if so hook it back up.
