I can't get it started chokes on and everything
take #1 spark plug out and let it touch a piece of the frame now crank the bike over, don't worry if it starts, quickly look for a big bluish spark, if that was good, stop engine, take #2 out and let it hang down looking for same thing. Now if you've done this and there is a spark but it only looks reddish-purple.... then this is a weak spark..no good! and now its time to locate your pulse generators..they might be located on the left of the bike underneath the small side case cover...there will be a wire harness going into it, follow these wires up into the bike and try to find the first disconnect and take it apart..now that you've done that, get a digital multi-meter, (i bought mine at Autozone $20, and i use it a lot now.) O.K. now you'll probably see four pins inside the connector, well if you dont have a print you'll do what i call "hunting"..you"ll be hunting for the correct ohm readings somewhere across two wires..there's a pair of wires for each pulse pickup. The ohm reading should be high like 450-500ohm...you dont want to see any opens like i did, and my other pickup only read 136 ohms, so i took off the case and they were bolted to the case cover itself, and i looked at them and one of them was obvious...it was black and burnt crispy, so i went to a salvage yard and paid $40 slapped it on only took 15min for the whole job, and i didnt have to pushstart my bike any longer,
it started up instanteniously. This problem here took me weeks to find.
Note: please make sure you have a decent battery too! take your voltmeter and read directly across the battery if it doesnt read at least 12.4v you better purchase a battery charger for you bike..12.6v-12.8v is nominal 13v is perfect. if you do get good spark and it still doesnt start and the bike has good compression, then it has to be a fuel problem, have you changed the fuel filter? if you have checked all these things and it will push start!! then i would go down to Autozone and puchase a can and pour 1/3 into 2gals fuel, push start it...now it may run rough for a little while till the stuff works it way throught, now ride it for about 10 to 15 miles get on it once in awhile but be safe..and that should clean out all the ports and jets. One more thing you can also check; the fuel pump,..you can take the line coming off your fuel filter, hold a little can underneath it, and start the bike, you should be able to see fuel pumping out... shut off immediatety! the pump is good! Can i get a very helpful on this one, Thanks!
