I have a 1992 suzuki bandit gsf 400 bought a new battery started up fine drove 4 days then my battery was completely drained managed to jump it but ran very rough could it be my cdi or regulator i hav

if you have an volt meter you can check on the batterie ,if he loads.you chould have somwhere 13 a 14 volt.start your bike and set, voltmeter on positif red and negatif black you chould read 14.2 vthen trottle up little and the number chould go higher.when you read ,14.9 means he overload.in that case your regulator.engine turning, rough because sparkplug dont get the right amount voltage.so the piston will not go strong down by weak spark.and then it will go not,go up strong.was the new batterie reddy for use.

I have the same idelproblem with my bandit carb

When you want to change jets for more fuel.. they actually come in Jet Kits. you can try different sizes but will have to change 3 knobs for proper mixture of gas/air ratio. The knob adjustments you just have to try one at a time for proper adjustment and only turn 1 knob 1/4 turn at a time. Tightening the knob makes less gas flow and loosening allows more gas. the three knobs are for 3 different ranges of RPMs. there is a low mixture knob, mid range knob, and high rpms knob. for example if your RPMs at idle through 5k RPMs are boggy, you can try a 1/4 turn and if it gets worse do a half turn back and ride again. do this off the street where you won't disturb traffic. it takes a while to get it running properly mixed.

Tick over

You have an air leak after the carburetor. Old, cracked rubber fittings between carb and cylinder will let air into the manifold causing a lean fuel/air mixture. Same is true of "O" rings and gaskets. If there is a leak in the head gasket that will lean the mix also. Fix the air leaks and you fix the problem.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

I have a suzuki bandit

Check the condition of the petcock (Valve) in the tank, open it up off of the bike. does fuel run out freely? if not take it out of the tank and service it , some have screens to trap debris. these can gum up wth debris and varnish from old gas.

Hope this is of some help.

Battery overcharging

I would disconnect the regulator so it does not charge the battery. Now... monitor the battery voltage... try starter, horn, lights, flashers... battery going down ? No fire/smoke/smells ? Re-connect regulator and check again. Regulator should charge battery @ 15volts MAX !!

Only running on the number 1 cylinder and 4 cylinder

One coil works #1 and #3 cylinder and the other one works #2 and #4, it could be a bad coil or fouled plugs on the dead cylinders.
