2008 Kawasaki KLX 110 backfires and puffs smoke after riding a few hours

You are too lean. It is causing the engine to get too hot and allow blowby around the piston rings. You need a larger main jet. Hopefully there has not been too much damage to the internals.

Depending on your size and weight, I would suggest that you obtain a set of KX65 forks, get the mod tripple clamps, and replace the whole front end. Its pricey but worth it.. look at fastminnis.com or any pitbike website for further information on klx110 mods. Good luck

What can't get wet on my KLX 110?

Number one try not to submerge in water! Depending on the riding that you do, try not to get water in the air filter houseing, and try not to let engine sit in water long while crossing creeks. If water gets into the stator houseing which is located on the.... left side of the motor, it will short out and you are stuck with no spark. Other than that your good to go... GO RIDE!!!!!!!

Under the front of the engine, Remove skid plate, and you will see an oblong houseing held on with two bolts, remove and filter is inside. Do not overtighten when you replace... Good Luck

Klx 110 started smoking grey smoke

If the level of engine oil keeps going down (even in very small amount), then it shows a problem with piston rings. Hope it helps and let me know if you need more advice. Please don't forget to rate the answer it helps me, thanks!

How to remove tire from rim on klx 110

You have to pry it over the rim with a set of tire irons. Let all the air out, pry one side off. Then remove the tube, then get the othe side. Be careful not to pinch a hole in the tube. Not easy or fun. I've seen lots of people do it in under 15 min. Not one of them was smileing. :)

Gas coming from black tube

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially and to my knowledge, some of the hoses connected to a carb would be:
  • from tank through fuel shutoff valve;
  • overflow hose;
  • drain hose;
  • in some case a vacuum hose.
Of the above, the only possible hose that would fit your description would be the overflow hose. Should this be the case, then this indicates that the float inside the carb's bowl has not moved up to engage/close the inflow valve. A workaround is to tap the bottom of the bowl to jar the float to go up as well as the shutoff the inflow valve. The drain hose would also allow fuel to flow out from the carb but that would mean the drain screw is loose/opened.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Pls be informed that due to my current rank and rating, even a Helpful would be detrimental to my status. Should this solution not address your concern, it would be appreciated if you could just not rate it at all. Cheers.

Kxl 110

Not sure by free wheels, does the motor turnover and seems to free wheel? If so, you may have very low compression in which the piston rings and or pistons may need to be changed, which is common if the bike is rode hard, the interval change is about 35 hours on these parts in most cases. If You kick the motor over and there is no tension on the kickstarter the spring may be bad.

Can you put two stroke

You can put the 2 stroke gas in if there's nothing else available and you're in a pinch but it will eventually foul the plug and create carbon in the combustion chamber if you do it regularly.

Remove and clean the carb. disassemble the carb then soak the carb parts in denatured alcohol for a couple hours then spraying with an aerosol carb cleaner should do the trick. Drain the gas tank and put in fresh gas. Go ahead and install an in-line fuel filter to lessen problems from a rusted gas tank.

Got a 1984 110klt. runs

You have a case of bent shift forks. Getting parts will be your first problem. Finding someone willing to work on it will be your second problem. The entire motor and gearbox must be torn down to get to the forks. The bike may run well and even look really nice, but it probably is not worth the time and cost of fixing it... Sorry.
