hi first off you must remove all the water as soon as possible as corrosion will occure very quickly on the big end and main bearings thus you will have to strip the engine to replace them so the quicker you remove the water the better, it may be when you removed the head the water that was inside the water jackets has gone inside the engine, however you do have a base gasket under the barrel that may have torn and leaked water into the engine, it would be best if you drain all the water out before you start removing the barrel, remove the piston by removing a circlip and tapping the gugeon pin out carefully remove the small end bearing, dry this and oil it, once all this is done useing compresed air blow out the water, if no air is availabe turn the engine upside down and alow water to run out, use some wd40 and engine oil to get around the bearings and remove the exsess oil when happy all is lubricated, when replacing piston ensure correct fitment arow facing exhaust port, if no arowlocate the piston rings in corect position and fit with the locating pins at the rear, any questions ,paul
Hi my kmx wont start my battery is old its that ok
Check the voltage. Your batery should measure 11 or more volts, maybe up to 13 volts at rest. If is is fewer, you should replace the battery. Potentially, your battery is 10 or more years old. Battery life is typically fewer than 5 years in the best case. Your battery dealer can test your battery and more properly advise you on a course of action to follow.
KX 125 (2003) motorcycle
its 120 mm or 4.7 inches from the top of the fork
Some measure the oil quantity and fill the fork up, some fill the fork up and measure the oil level. The most correct method is to measure the level, I guess, but many guys measure in quantity.. both ways work well.
2001 kx125 leaking oil
It sound like its just the seal in the casing through which the drive shaft emerges.Straight forward job to replace. (Workshop manual for your bike can show you step by step)
My kx125 2002 has a funny rattle when idleing on the magneto side
Take the cover off the magneto side by undoing the 8mm bolt/screw heads around the cover. Hold the magneto firmly and try and move up and down, if you sense any movement that isn't rotary it may be your main bearing that needs replacement, this sounds like a rumble rather than a rattle when the engine's running.(does it make the same noise when you pull the clutch in?)
I have a 1987 kx 125 just put topend gasket set in
It sounds as if you have rebuilt the engine without torqueing the head bolts. Although, it could be that the cylinder base gasket has been torn during the rebuild. Try to re-tighten the head bolts to the correct settings first. Good luck.
Hi, i was riding my kx 125 03 yesterday and the dyed on me
Hi,would start by taking the head off and have a look at the top of the piston, if it hasn't got a hole in it.. good....the bottom of your plug may have broken off, this may have damaged your rings so you'll have no compression. You'll have too strip it down further. When you're sorted check your oil/petrol mix and your air screw setting then check your plug regularly for discolouring or oiling up. Go for it, and be methodical.
