Correct order of replacing rear

The best book is the factory service manual. Chilton and Haynes are lousy, ( in my opinion ). Try your dealer or google 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 service manual. That gives several sources,; Amazon, ebay, FREE DOWNLOAD? ( 5th listing ) and other sources. tombones49_285.gif

I have a 1999 VULCAN

Well, I would first check the main thing and thats making sure your oil is not overfilled. If it is not, then if you know where the oil is coming from, it could be something as simple as a freeze plug has fell out.If you saw another bike the same as yours and the hole was there in that bike but no oil comes from it, then yours is missing something or has a defect. Short of taking it to the shop, find a schematic of your engine I think Bike Bandit has them online.Look at the diagram of your engine and try to see if there is a factory installed plug down in that hole or a allen head screw with a recessed head that you cant see. Also, if it is a crack or something similiar, you may need to just clean the hole with crab cleaner, wire brush it, then use some JB Weld or similar compound and simply stop up the leak.Having the bike at RPM is basically just putting more oil pressure on the system. So you may have a crack that doesnt leak until the pressure gets to a certain point.Good luck.

No power at all. fresh

The motorcycle's main fuse is on the starter relay. It's located on the left side when sitting on the motorcycle just under the front left side of the seat. There should be a 30 amp fuse. Once the power gets throughout the main fuse on the relay - it goes to the other fuse box near the rear of the motorcycle under the seat. This fuse box has the ECU main fuse in it. ---------
Follow the positive battery cable to the object that it connects to. Located on the top will be the main fuse. -------- Click this link for more help:-- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/07/where-is-main-fuse-located-for-kawasaki.html ------------ This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Noise like valve adjustment too

Valve adjustment is not a simple task, the valve clearances will need "shimming" these are thin pieces of metal to take up the gap or slack between valve and rocker arm. You will need service manual and some feeler gauges, and purchase a set of shims

Just replaced the friction plates,

G'day.
You don't stipulate your bikes model or year which makes this a bit harder.
When you fitted the outer hub(the one the springs sit in)- you've probably miss-aligned it.
Remove the springs again
Remove the hub- & re-fit over next set of posts(turn the outer hub so it dosn't go over the same posts as before) & it should slot all the way in.
If it dosn't-try again

It looks like the outer hub can fit over the spring posts in any position- but it can't.

I hope this works for you.

My bike will not turn

Take a volt tester, test the voltage on the starter if you hit the start button. if there is voltage it means the starter is damage, if no voltage check the wiring.

Cooling fan will not come

Temperature sensing switch could be the problem, or a broken wire between fan and the switch. OR it could be that the fan motor is dead. If you have a volt meter, try reading voltage at the switch, and the fan motor, (once the engine is warm enough the fan should be on)

CANNOT IDENTIFY MODEL AND YEAR

The bike is a "Meanstreak" If all you have is the engine you would probably be better taking the engine and any other cycle parts you like to a Frame builder.
