2000 kawasaki ZRX 1100 Questions & Answers
How do I wire up my headlight and taillight on my 2000 kawasaki zrx 1100
The first thing you need to do is to buy a service manual for your bike that has schematic wiring diagrams of the electrical system in it. Be careful to get a book that is just for YOUR bike--too many of these manuals try to cover related bikes from the same family, which leads them to presenting a lot of generic, vague, information, that MIGHT apply to your bike, but oftentimes does NOT. If you can't find the information you need, you wasted your money on the book!
Once you have that, you can identify the wires (sometimes the diagrams are in color, but if they are not, there will be a color-code to tell you what color the different wires are.) Usually, these wires will terminate at some type of plug or connector which will go directly to the head light, or to the tail/brake light sockets. Then it is just a matter of 'making the connections.'
My 2000 kawasaki zrx 1100 will crank an run on
If you have a choke you have a carb(s). If it will only run on choke the low speed circuit is likely dirty/plugged. If it will run at medium or higher throttle on choke only you may have further carb pluggin gproblems and/or a plugged fuel filter or pinched line etc.
My 2000 kawasaki Zrx 1100 has gas coming to my air
You need to describe better what you are calling your airbox vent. It sounds like there is a drain hole or port in the airbox to drain away raw fuel that might get in there by flooding. If so it is fuel system overflow or floodign that is causing raw fuel to be in the airbox.
Bike wont start, something with the Battery
From your description, it sounds like a bad starter motor. That is provided all of the cables going from battery to relay, and relay to starter are not corroded or have poor connections. The relay is a weak point, so it may be damaged as well if the starter has been pulling too many amps.
Got a ZRX1100 which jumps out of 4th gear on load.
hi there it sounds like the fourth gear cog has rounded off the part that slides in to the other gear[ can not rember right name for it] you can either replace the gear or get the gear back cut which gives the gear a more positive connection either way it means removing the gearbox hope this helps
Rough running
This problem, ironically, might simply be the screen filter on the in tank petcock. The zrx is a gravity fed filter-less fuel system with only the screen to act as a filter. I had the same problem with my black 2001 zrx and did a full tune up before pulling the petcock and cleaning away 9 years of sediment from what appeared to be a very clean tank. I simply purchased a seal kit from Kawasaki before the tear down and waited till the tank was as empty as it would get by riding it. The screen was surprisingly clogged with junk...and once cleaned and reinstalled the bike no longer ran poorly when cold. Im not sure why the bike being warmed up made a difference but it did......now it starts and runs like a champ (colod or hot)!!!
I dropped a gasket from the cap of an STP
Your fuel petcock has a filter on it that should not be affected by the gasket. If the gasket is paper and will deteriorate and cause problems , by all means get it out. If it is just a round plastic circle the size of a quarter it will not affect anything sitting in the tank. If you decide to retrieve the gasket , drain the tank, take the tank off, turn it over , and remove the fuel tank sender and you should get good access to the interior of the tank. If there is a splash of gas left in the tank it will help you wash the item to a position where you can see it and reach it with a long grabber or tweezers . Please NO SMOKING during this procedure.
1200 zrx. starts but sounds like only running on 2
Pull the plugs, if they are black dry and sooty those cylinders are running too rich which may be why it's cutting out when you put the choke on, it's getting too much fuel.
If they are wet and smell of gas you have no spark to those cylinders.
If it's carbuerated, then your idle jets or main jets are possibly clogged if the bike has not been run in awhile.
Could also be the coil is not firing to those two cylinders, check for spark first then check compression.
Check your choke cable adjustment also to make sure it's working properly.
Weak spark
Try a wrecker or dismantler around your area.
My motorcycle has a miss.
Richard ,
check that your carbies are synchronised .
i would make sure also that you dont have a faulty HTand HT lead to the saprk plug which may cause the wet plug .
check all electrical first prior to thinking of a valve problem .
try to swap the HT and see if the senario happens on another cylinder . if it does , you know than your HT will be faulty .
try that and see how you go .
