Float height is the level of the floats inside the bowl of the carburetor , this height regulates the level of gas in the bowl, If the level is too high, you won't have enough gas in the bowl to achieve proper jetting (you MIGHT seize the motor), if the level is too low, gas will leak out of the over flow and overall jetting will be off, (this is measuring the float level with the carbs off the bike/atv.)

At that age, wear on the fuel needle valve in the carb has probably taken place. Leading to a tendency not to seal every time and shut off the fuel to the float chamber. Two options. If you are happy to strip the carb and have the tools, remove the carb, this may be more complicated than the carb itself!! Remove the screws holding the lower casting on the float bowl and carefully remove the float and needle valve. Look at the tip with a magnifying glass and see if there is a wear ring around it. If there is then you need a repair kit for that particular make / model / chassis number / year bike from a main agent or an online parts house. In addition you may need 2 kits because the other carb(s) will be in a similar condition. If you aren't sure what to do get a good bike mechanic to guide you the first time or a good manual. If the mileage is low, there may only be dirt in the carb(its 18 yrs old) from the tank and a flush through with carb cleaner followed by a blow out with an airline. I doubt its the tap.

down on the bottom side of the motor there should be a spring loaded screw with a filter

1. take out the dipstick
2. take out drain screw and allow to drain

3. replace filter and put screw back
4. fill with required oil

Time for overhaul of the petcock (FUEL TAP).
you will have to get the petcock kit and replace it.

First check your voltage (12+ volts) of your battery again. If you have a 2 amp trickle charger for motorcylcles try topping off your battery on deep cycle charge over night. Usually the noise your referring to is the solenoid, more often than not this is a lack of current. Next check all of your connections on the battery and starter, that is take them loose, clean them, put them back on. Try again, if this fails, push start the bike, check your voltage at the battery while running to determine if your bike is charging. Ride the bike around for 10-15 minutes come home, shut it off, check voltage, try and start. If you have good voltage then it may very well be the solenoid, if less than 12 volts, try a different or new battery to see if you have the same issue. You must determine if you need to replace the bearing or adjust the "preload". You might get away with just re-greasing the bearings.You will some way to support the motorcycle when you remove the front fork assembly. You will have to remove the speedometer cable. You will also have to remove the front brakes from the fork tubes, You will have to look to see if other items need to be removed. Each bike is different. An maintenance manual would be helpful. You will have to remove the top "triple clamp". This will require the removal of your handel bars. These fit tight, you might have to "tap" them off with a dead blow hammer. After this, you will need to remove the spanner nut that is where the preload is set. Normally there is (2) of these. One to set preload, the other to lock this one in place. I f this is to tight, you will get sticking of the front end assembly. One these spanner nuts are removed, the front end will slide out of the bottom of the steering neck. This assembly is not light, have a friend help. You will see the lower bearing on the steering stem just above the lower triple clamp. The upper bearing will still be in the steering head of the bike. When installing the new bearings, make sure that you fully grease them. Remember, when you set the preload, this is VERY IMPORTANT. It is not implossible, just sensitive. Make sure that you check all bolts when done. Your life is dependent on it!! Good luck.

Ok this is a problem with the rpm pick up sensor. It is a wire or wires that run directly into the transmission. As for the voltage regulator. It is a small black box usually by the ecu on the right inside of the tail. Also Motorcycles do not have alternators. They have a thing called a stator. It is inside the motor. It is recommended that you do not attempt to open your cases. Its messy and very confusing. and if you mess one thing up the bike is trash.

Get a new clutch and c if that fixes the problem and if not its the transmission

If the bike is a four stroke, chances are the valves need to be re-seated. Do a compression check. If you re-post the problem, tell us the year, model and engine size of your bike. That will allow us to help better.

You can buy a piece of rubber at the hardware store. They sell a pad for making rubber plumbing gaskets . You could experiment with carefully placed shims to see if it helps. I do not think it will hurt anything to try, and it might be nice to get the clunk out.

You have to have the slack of the chain at the adjustment side. or the loosness can be on at another portion of the chain, preventing proper adjustment.

What is the make and model of the bike. Most bikes will have jug behind one of the side covers where you add coolant.
