1997 Kawasaki VN 800 A Vulcan how to bypass the ignition switch
If it follows the rest of Kawi's line-up, (and it probably does): 5 wire?!
Brown=Ignition
White= Battery
Gray=Ignition
Blue=Taillamp 1
Red=Taillamp 2
Brown is for things that need to be energized, like the rad. fan, etc.
Gray is for the ignition/ignitors themselves.
Connecting white, brown and gray should get you going. Add blue for lights.
Red, together with white is for parking lights.
My back seat and fender is dropping down onto the
From what I have read, the Uni-Trak rear suspension system of the Kawasaki 800 has problems of freezing up and ripping up bushings because it is down on the bottom of the bike, where all the water and stuff gets thrown up at it.
Bushings must be frequently replaced or greased so that they do not seize up.
But I also believe the rear spring is adjustable, and may have just slipped out of position.
Taking baffles out from standed exhaust
dont do it please,,the bike needs the right exhaust back presher to run right,,,you go taking out the baffles you change the back presher and the bike WILL SLOW DOWN!!!! and also run like a dog! burn out plugs,use twice as much fule unless you retune the carbs right, and sound like hell on earth, as well as going slower than it did! now think about this,,
is it realy worth it,,
How do I change the oil my 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan
The drain plug is located at the center of the bottom of the engine case. Check here for filter options:
www.vulcanforums.com
I would recommend the longer filters for additional filter element surface, but you should be able to find a quality option at any auto parts store. Double check to make sure the old filter gasket does not stick to the engine case. The capacity is 3 U.S. quarts for a change w/filter, and 2.8 quarts without. Refill at the slotted cap on the left side case- if you do not want to scratch up the cover by using a screwdriver on the cap, find a large washer that fits in the slot tightly and use a screwdriver for leverage to open it. When reinstalling, hand tight is good enough.
Won't crank. battery is good i had it checked.
The solenoid (note the spelling) is an electromagnetically operated, high current switch. It takes about ¼ amp to operate the solenoid, so that is the current that goes through the ignition and starter switches.
That ¼A pulls on a shaft which has a thick copper disc attached to its end. When the shaft is pulled into the electromagnet of the solenoid, that disc is pulled in with it, and the disc straddles the heads of two bolts, one of which is connected to the (+) side of the battery, the other to the wire to the starter. If the disc is pitted from arcing, and the bolt heads it is to touch are also, it will fail to make electrical contact, and the starter gets no power. The solenoid clicks, but the starter does nothing.
Use a volt meter to ensure that (+) is getting to the battery side of the solenoid. If not, you have found your problem.
If it does, put the (+) probe on the starter side of the solenoid, and hit the switch. If (+) shows up there, the solenoid is working but the wire to the starter, or the starter itself is not working.
