That could be caused by excessive endfloat on the starter motor.
Remove the motor and check it. Alternatively, the engine may be stiff to turn or a poor connection on the starter motor circuit.

Wont start after it gets

I know that you say that you have spark, but I bet it doesn't when it dies after being warmed up. Double check your spark right after it dies. This is a bad coil. The coil gets hot and the copper winding lose connection. When it cools down the windings shrink and make connection again.

I have a Vulcan 750

Have you tried a 3/4" deep socket? With spark plugs, you should be using a spark plug socket which has rubber inside to protect the porcelain on the spark plug from being damaged. So if you use a regular deep socket be careful not to twist the socket sideways. Replace spark plugs with proper plugs.

Oil spill from the front

HI. This will be a basic cylinder head issue concerning the gasket in that particular area. The gaskets have failed; possible rupture or severe crack. Now, this may also be a cracked head(due to over revving). Make sure to inspect the structure of the head, carefully for any structural damage. I do not suspect this issue, but i would advise to check for this serious condition. With that being said, replacing the head gasket should correct this issue and properly seal off the cylinder sector.

Additionally, If you want track the leak properly, here is a very easy way to do this. Simply sprinkle talcum powder over the top of the engine and go for a short ride. Once the powder starts to warm and mix with the spilled oil, it will expose the track, thus leading you to the origin of the leak. These additional areas of concern will be:

The spark plug tubes- These tubes have been known to wear through with slack cam chains.
The Cam Plugs- The cam plugs on top of each cylinder can cause this as well.
Valve covers- Check them thoroughly.(this may be the lone culprit) failed valve cover gasket.

  • NOTE_The spark plug tubes will screw out with a suitable sized tube spanner. This will only be relevant if they are filling up with oil.The cam plugs will leak, overtime. Its a big job to replace them, you will need to disassemble the engine to get the heads off.It is possible to slow or even stop the leaks by cleaning the edges with Isopropyl alcohol cloths and forcing high temp silicone sealant into the seams with your finger tips. Let it stand for at least 24 hours to cure before starting the engine.

I have a 2002 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 I'm customizing it can the rectifier be moved so it's not just hanging there.

Absolutely, the rectifier on your Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 can be repositioned during a customization project. The rectifier is a crucial part of the motorcycle's electrical system, converting alternating current (AC) from the stator into direct current (DC) to charge the battery and power the bike's electrical components. While relocating the rectifier, it's important to consider a few key factors:
  1. Space and Mounting: Assess the available space on the motorcycle to find a suitable location for the rectifier. Ensure that the new position allows for proper mounting and secure attachment without interfering with other components or the bike's functionality.
  2. Heat Dissipation: The rectifier generates heat during operation, so it's essential to relocate it to an area with adequate airflow for cooling. Mounting it in a well-ventilated area helps prevent overheating issues.
  3. Wiring and Connections: When moving the rectifier, ensure that the wiring can be appropriately rerouted to reach its new location. Take care to maintain proper electrical connections and ensure a secure, stable wiring setup.
  4. Protection: Consider adding protective measures, such as shields or guards, to safeguard the relocated rectifier from road debris, water, or other potential hazards.
Modifying the placement of the rectifier may require custom brackets, mounts, or fabrication work to secure it in the desired location. It's crucial to execute the relocation carefully, maintaining proper electrical connections and ensuring the rectifier's safety and functionality. If you're not confident in performing these modifications yourself, consulting a professional motorcycle mechanic or technician with experience in customizations can be highly beneficial. They can offer guidance, expertise, and ensure that the modifications are carried out safely and effectively.
