How to remove instrument panel on 2005 cbr1100xx

Removing the instrument panel on a 2005 Honda CBR1100XX, also known as the Blackbird, requires some care and attention to detail. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
  1. Prepare Your Workspace:
    • Park your motorcycle on a stable, flat surface. Ensure the engine is off, the bike is in neutral, and the ignition is turned off.
  2. Disconnect the Battery:
    • It's a good safety practice to disconnect the battery before working on the electrical components of your motorcycle. This helps prevent any electrical shorts or damage. Disconnect the negative terminal first, followed by the positive.
  3. Remove the Windshield and Fairings (if necessary):
    • Depending on the design of the CBR1100XX, you may need to remove the windshield and some fairings to access the instrument panel. Use a screwdriver and/or Allen keys to carefully remove these parts. Keep track of all screws and fasteners.
  4. Locate the Instrument Panel:
    • The instrument panel is typically located at the front of the motorcycle, right above the handlebars.
  5. Disconnect the Instrument Panel:
    • Carefully disconnect any electrical connectors from the back of the instrument panel. These connectors should unclip with a gentle tug. It's important to be gentle to avoid damaging the connectors or wiring.
  6. Remove the Instrument Panel:
    • There will be screws or bolts securing the instrument panel to the motorcycle. Remove these with an appropriate screwdriver or socket. Hold onto the instrument panel as you remove the last screw to prevent it from falling.
  7. Carefully Remove the Panel:
    • Once all screws are removed, and the connectors are disconnected, you can carefully remove the instrument panel from the motorcycle.
  8. Perform Necessary Work:
    • With the instrument panel removed, you can now perform whatever work is necessary, be it repair, replacement, or modification.
  9. Reassemble:
    • To reassemble, reverse the process. Make sure all electrical connections are secure and that the instrument panel is properly aligned and secured with its screws.
  10. Reconnect the Battery and Test:
  • After reassembly, reconnect the battery (positive first, then negative) and test the instrument panel to ensure everything is working correctly.

Hi i have a problem

That sounds like either a faulty pump or pressure switch inside the pump housing. Unfortunately they are in the fuel tank.
Check by substitution if power is on the wires going to the pump. Don't forget to check the return wire!

I want garmin fitted on motorbike not handle bars

Hi.

There is not much space on the Blackbird. Garmin standard mounts won't work. You will need to use a custom one like Telferizer (click) or to purchase a Ram-Mount and fix it to the bike. Ram mount may need adapting. here a discussion see also here.

Also have a look at Carsportouring page for CBR1100XX.

Regards.

Replace fork seals

I assume the forks are already taken out from the braces? If so gently slide them back in and tighten the clamp bolts partially - just enough to prevent the fork tube from turning. Then use teh allen key and remove teh lower nut. Once loose, loosen teh clamp bolts and problem should be solved

Dead Alternator?

Those voltage numbers are horrible. Just sitting on your workbench, the battery should read at least 12.8 volts. And without the gear turned on, the voltage at idle should be above 14 volts. I have a hunch you're going to find the voltage regulator and/or bad connections in the brown coupler are the culprit, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check the alternator. Unplug the brown coupler, set your meter to read AC volts and probe any two of the yellow wires in the harness side of the coupler. Rev the engine to 4000 rpm and you should see at least 60 volts AC. If you consider the three yellow wires to be A, B, and C, you'll need to perform this test on the pairs A-B, A-C, and B-C. Good luck.

Vacuum line goes on the small valve fitting, fuel line on the large fitting. Use a clamp on the fuel line, vacuum usually doesn't need one.
