My silverwing won't start or even turnover
Found out that the brake had to be depressed all the way, and not just until you hear the "click". Squeeze the brake hard, and it will start every time. It's a safety feature that Honda has to ensure that the scooter is in control once it's started.
Just got a 2005 silver
i have a 2007 honda silverwing it is the safty switch on the brake switch replaced it starts like always mopar Kenny

Hi Linda, If that is what the manual says then who are we to argue with Honda? Engine quality has improved hugely and so service intervals can be long. How you ride the bike and in what conditions will have an influence on how often you should change the oil, filters and so on. I have made it a point of changing the oil on every bike I have owned at 2000km (1600 mile) intervals. I figuer my engine will last twice as long that way, and I should have fewer mechanical problems. Bikes have small sumps so the cost is not too high and a motorcycle engine works at higher revs than a car so I figure let it have good oil to work in.

I was also told that this happens when the rear drive hub requires lubrication. grease that, and you'll be a happier camper.

even though the belt appeared to be okay it might not be. inspect the belt a little close and see if it has glazed on the side that runs on the clutches. you might also want to have your clutches inspected.

2 solutions to this:
First is buy a bike manual to see what the procedure is to find the fault code which will be a series of flashing light on the ABS system that will tell you the fault. Second solution take it to your Honda dealer.

Have u had the battery tested? most auto part stores like Kragen and others will do this for free., sounds to me like the battery is open inside from the crash, have seen this happen many times, trust me on this have had cycles for entire adult life have seen this very problem on my own bikes over the years..
Oil in air box
Yep, its somewhat normal. Your crankcase ventilation tube connects to the back of the airbox. There is a small foam to dampen the airflow and remove the droplets from the flow - but other than that the crankcase is connected to the airbox.
Now the good question is that what amount is normal, i.e. under what conditions there may be excessive amounts of oil generating so much positive pressure to crankcase that the oil becomes clearly visible in airbox... one reason may be too high oil level to start with ? Other reasons may relate to some kind of piston blowby - like rings glued into the piston? Also it is sometimes possible that PAIR lets air to move back to the airbox - but have not seen that happening in a busa, just in a car. In that case rather than oil its black carbon residue which feels a bit oil'ish.
You can test the crancase pressure by removing the hose from the back of the airbox and feel the pressure when engine is running. It should not be blowing air out - but some pressure, or more like pulses will be felt. (Its so long time when I have last done this test, so maybe someone could describe this better...)
Anyway this reminded me about the fact that in cars there is often a PCV valve, positive crankcase ventilation valve. I am just wondering why we dont have that in busa ? The performance related desire to have negative crankcase pressure surely is not the reason...
Turn off abs light
Turning off the abs light is not easy to do even if you dissconned the battery the most comeon proble on a abs light to come on proble be n abs sensor each wheel has on you need to put it on a scanner autozone does it for free good luck hope this was helpful good luck

you will need to attach an Ohm meter to the battery when it is fully charged then pull around at all wiring on the cycle to see if the meters reading changes to OL. When that happens that area of wires is your short
When I turn the key
That would be my first guess!! If you locate the fuel pump you can try tapping on it and see if it becomes intermittant. Or if it isn't too much just go ahead and change it. Expecially if it left you stranded once already. Sincerely HDTV GURU JAY
Speed "chasing" at low speed
sounds like a vacum leak spray the carbs and in take with wd-40 if your bike revs up then pin point and replace offending parts.
Each bolt or screw are
there is no such thing as adjusting things by how many turns. If you want to do it evenly you need a torg wrench. Small bolts are only about 25 to 35 ft lbs.

The Power Steering has failed. There has been a factory recall for a suddenly failing electrical steering shaft, that could cause the rider to loose control. This does not have to be your problem but anyhow either the electronics or the pump failed. Error codes or messages usually have to be erased by a simple reset procedure or disconnecting a plug, after repairs are done.
