2003 Honda VT 1100 C Shadow Spirit Questions & Answers
I have a 2003 honda shadow spirit vt1100c and it
These bikes are notorious for doing this. You must have a good battery to start these engines. I had a '94 VT1100 Shadow and it did the same thing. I bought a new battery and that solved the problem. Take you battery out and take it to an automotive parts house. They'll usually test the battery for you free of charge. Back when I had my Shadow, the only people that made the battery was Yuasa and it was that Yumacron battery. Expensive but it made the bike start well. Good Luck!
Valve adjust on 03 honda shadow vt1100c
If the same as 1985-1998 VT 1100 - you have a hydraulic valves, so NO adjusting, if Noise - valve tappets clogged, take out engine oil, use cleaning oil, start engine and run it till tapping goes away.
Then use Motul 10-40W, this one have add of cleaner in and better shifting.

It sounds like you have a dirty or broken contact base on your ignition switch. Unfortunately, you do not have a replaceable contact base on your switch. Your best option would be to replace the ignition switch. You will end up with two keys for your cycle but it will fix your problem. The only other option is to carefully disassemble your switch and attempt to clean the contact points in the switch. Worst case scenario would be you break the switch and have to replace it anyway. Happy trails.
Ive notice that headlight sort
Sounds to me like a weak battery or possibly ... let me repeat ... possibly a weak or failing alternator/rectifier.
If you have a service manual, you might test the rectifier yourself. You can get a free Generic Honda service manual at the Honda Rider Site:
http://hrca.honda.com/ All you have to do is sign up then download. You can also purchase a specific manual from the same site if you want. Be prepared to spend around $60.00 US
You could do a hydro test and a voltage test on your batter if you wanted and if you have the necessary equipment. Both procedures are covered in the book. I still suspect your battery is near the end of its useful life. Chat this over with the folks at your Honda Dealer.

I have an 03 Honda
You have done all the leg work here. The problem is your starter button. It is a two position switch. First, it turns off the head light to give all the electricity to the starter and ignition. Second, it sends power to the starter solenoid to close the contacts. You can open the right switch assembly and try cleaning the starter button. Unfortunately, to replace the starter button, Honda only sells the right handle bar switch as an assembly. Part # 6 on the micro fiche about $80.

Do not despair if the part is not available. You may be able to get a good used one at a salvage yard or Ebay. If you find a smashed switch with a good starter button, you can solder the good buton into your switch. I have three GL1000 Goldwings that have switch assemblies from different model Honda's rewired onto my cycles. They work just fine, they just look different.

How do you check coolant in a 2003 750 Shadow
With the engine cold , take off the radiator cap and if necessary top it off. Use only a non-silica antifreeze like Honda or GM Dexcool. Put the cap back on and top off the overflow bottle (to the high mark).
I am trying to remove
If it is that loose ... replace your chain. It is worn out.
