I have a 2003 honda cr 250r 2 stroke,It will not kickstart, you can bump start it and it starts right up and runs really good.when you try and kick it it leaks gas out of the carborator.

Usually, a leaking carb is because either the float is set too high, or there is some crud stuck between the float's needle valve and it's seat. Either one will not allow the float/needle valve to shut off the flow of gas when the float bowl get's full. This should be your carb: http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2003-honda-cr250r-carburetor-02-03/o/m2194sch305112 The floats are the 2 large square items on #5 on the illustration. Item #3 is the float needle valve. Item #4 is the needle valve's seat.

Kickstart has no compression

no compressionhas the spark plug come loose, could be bust piston, rings or valves, right googled it, its a 2 stroke no valves, moving on, your have to remove the head and barrell to see whats gone, the piston or the rings. its probably the rings. its not as hard as it sounds on a 2 stroke so even a novice could do it.

I was recently riding and

Hi, this is whats known as. A slipping clutch, normaly the clutch slips when the fibre clutch plates become worn, remove the oil filler cap the ware would be evident if as you describe it has reached the stage of loss of drive by smell as the fibre plates have burned away, the main cause may be for a number of reasons, on cable opperated Clutches malladjustment no free play at the lever will cause the clutch to slip untill it becomes worn , hydrallic opperated systems rely on fluid in the system to opperate, if the fluid becomes warm the pressure increases putting pressure on the clutch, thus the clutch slip, my guess is the plates have become worn, remove r,hand engine cover to check, paul

My 2003 honda cr250r doesn't idle at all

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
