How to free up clutch on honda shadow

if it stuck from being stood that's due to corrosion on the clutch plates the steel plates rust and stick to the friction plates,two ways to do it 1st is to start the bike get someone to give you a good push then put in in 1st gear,hold the clutch in and open and close the throttle quite quickly ,hold on as it will jerk about a bit and possibly wheelie.that should do it if it doesn't 2nd,Take the clutch cover off and undo the clutch bolts that hold the pressure plate on and manually separate the plates ,clean them up with some fine wet and dry sandpaper and re assemble it..

Headlight not working

Your gonna have to get your a test light which are fairly cheap at the stores if you don't have one or get you a multi meter to check your wiring. If no current is getting to the new bulb it will not work. Disconnect your bulb and check the wiring terminals with that test light, it will light up if you have current there. If not, trace down that wire, checking all plastic clips or connections for corrosion or damages. Just one little connection that is either corroded or not even getting a good ground will make that circuit incomplete.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always on bikes with carbs with no prep on storage, a carb pulldown is required. This is to enable the cleaning off the varnish like film coating on the inside of the carbs, the jets, holes and most surfaces. This is a result of the fuel turning to varnish like after sometime. While the actual cleaning is straightforward, it is the carb removal and re-installation that maybe more of a challenge. A few notes to consider:
  • count the number of turns on the air screw;
  • take notes of what hose goes to where;
  • soak the dis-assembled internal components in carb cleaner;
  • might as well drain and clean the tanks;
  • a can of compressed air maybe used to blow through the vents, pinholes and jets. Be careful as some have thin / small washers, rubber o-rings and springs;
  • a service manual may come in handy.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
