Detach the Cable housing from the front wheel and pull the inner cable out, If its in one piece with a square shape on both ends then there is a issue with the Speedometer or the drive wheel in the front hub. If not then the cable needs to be replaced at the local dealer parts counter.

if the engine turns over with no spark and you put a new plug in thenlook deeper, ignition coil/armiture/magneto. this coil will have to create a charge to produce a spark if it does not work correctly then you will have no spark. also another cause of this would be the ignition switch. make sure the key is activating the ignition coil.
