Cranks but no spark

weak battery (it must have 12,6-8V, when engine is runing it must be 13,5 - 14,2V if not, you have bad battery or stator or rectifier). The starter is taking too much energy from battery, so nothing left for sparks.

PLZ Someone help me....I've owned this bike from day 1 & never had a problem. 2008 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750C, now she doesnt want to down shift to 1st gear. She'll down shift to 2nd just fine.

When it's in gear, does the engine seem to bog or creep forward? 1rst is the "hardest" gear for your tranny to accommodate, your clutch may need adjustment. With a little thought a person can visualize how the handle and cable "pull" in the clutch, and add a little more action to it. I always recommend buying a service manual from say amazon for example. It's the best $$ you'll ever spend keeping your ride up to par. Eliminating inadequate clutch release I'd suspect a bent shifting fork or binding in the tranny which always means the engine will have to come out and crack the case. Best of luck to you

My bike is not charging

Stator - check 3 yellow wires if they have resistance between them, (they are coming from stator), reading should be the same, if not, you have a bad stator. This bike doesnt have a rotor. If the stator is o.k., then your rectifier is gone.

What is the adjustments on the carbs for a 86 honda shadow vt 1100

What adjustments are you speaking of? If you mean floats, needle position, then youll need a manual, which you can get online for as little as $5.00. If you are speaking of the air adjustment screws,..then screw them in untill LIGHTLY seated, then out 2 1/2 turns,..and that will be a good starting point. Then the only other adjustments would be to synchronize them.

My 2006 1100 shadow won't

Have you tried raising the idle speed with the adjustment screw on the left side below the throttle cables? YOU mentioned in your question that" the bike run better with the choke fully on?" If so then the slow jets in the carburetors are probably clogged from old fuel. These jets have an extremely small orifice that is very difficult to clean. -------

Your low speed jets are plugged, Try a carb cleaner like Seafoam to get them clean before taking them off, if your low speed jet plugs have been drilled out you could try taking the needles out and blowing air thru them, if you do use a carb cleaner let it set overnight before trying to start it.-----Sea foam goes in the gas and needs to get to the carbs, so with the gas off run it till it is out of gas, turn the gas on and start it,when it settles down turn it off and let it set.Hopefully that will take care of the problem. Or you can pour some jet cleaner in the gas, let it set over night, and check in the morning. But if cleaning the slow jets is not helping, then I recommend replacing the slow jets rather than trying to clean them. -------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I need to take the

The puller you need will look like the photo below. The large end screws into the flywheel the the "T" handle is screwed inward to the end of the crankshaft. Turn the handle tight then smack the handle with a hammer. Re-tighten the handle and smack it again, tighten more, etc.. Often just 1 or 2 smacks will pop the wheel free. Once in awhile you must repeat 5 or 6 times. Your dealer may have the puller in stock. If not, try another Honda dealer. Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha use the same puller. Please rate my answer. Motorcycle, Honda VT1100 Series 1995-2007:

Hi allways fill the radiator on closed cooling systems the small expansion tank is just there for a bit of extra capacity if needed if you can get to an upper coolant hose instead fill it from there but ideally at the radiator cap the start the engine and at idle let it warm up until the thermostat opens and the top hose gets hot topping up the whole time it needs it then put the cap back on and fill the expansion tank to the correct level let it cool down and recheck the level when cold top up if needed

Cold start on one side except when out side temp.

You need to have your fuel screws adjusted and have a carb synch done. That should do it. Chaz Moto DC

the biggest single cause of stator failure is the battery is in a low state of charge, this severly overheats the stator windings, the next is burned connectors to the regulator from the stator.
