Headlight is dim in idle.

You need to see what voltage is at your battery at an idle, with a meter first.

Went to start, engine cranked slightly and then all power was lost. Fuses ok

If the fuel pump is not delivering adequate fuel pressure and volume to the engine, the engine may not start or run properly. Low fuel pressure can cause hard starting, a rough idle, misfiring, hesitation and stalling. No fuel pressure will prevent the engine from starting, or will cause the engine to quit running if the fuel pump fails while driving.Fuel injected engines are very sensitive to fuel pressure as well as fuel volume. Low pressure will cause starting and driveability problems. A pump that can deliver adequate pressure but not enough volume may allow the engine to start and idle normally, but it will starve the engine for fuel and cause a loss of power when the engine is under load, accelerating hard or cruising at highway speeds.

The bike starts up fine with the choke out, but

hi cowboydesign

its starving for gas, either because the gas isnt getting to the carb or because the carb is clogged up. make sure your getting fuel to the carb first. remove the fuel line at the carb to make sure gas is flowing from the tank to the carb. if it is, your float might just be stuck or your carb is clogged up. you can try spraying carb cleaner in and around it, but that doesnt always work. if you never took a carb apart, i recommend finding someone that has.

Will turn over but not start

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You may want to check for the presence/absence of spark. Temporarily remove one of the plugs or use an old but known to be good / spare plug, attach the plug cap, allow the metal end of the spare plug to touch the engine and crank. There should be spark on the gap of the plugs. If not then the problem is in the ignition system. If no spark, try starting with the sidestand folded, clutch lever pulled and ensuring neutral light is lit.

Pls postback results.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
