most likley the cable is broken. can you turn the knob on the trip meter and reset it, if so then your cable is shot

Start the bike till running temp is reached .while the engine is hot ,change the oil and filter.take great care not to burn yourself .When the engine is hot you will find the oil drains away much faster and all the old stale oil will drain out of the engine & gearbox & clutch ..Once you have replaced the old oil with new oil and filter .this should cure the problem of stiff gears .

One bolt under the seat. Take bolts out of speedo gauge. One bolt under it. Unhook wiring and speedo cable. Raise back of tank and remove fuel line and vent hoses.

So you know that you are getting spark but no fuel. Do process of elimination. Start at the pet-****, then check the fuel line to the carb, if fuel is getting to the carb then you need to prove fuel is getting through the carb. Might be debris between the needle and seat or debris inside one of your jets. take your time, good luck.

I have looked up an image of your taillight and there are two pin plugs about 3-4 inches out of the back of the taillight. Try looking inside the guard or have a better look and actuially follow the wires they are there.

buy a manual for the bike from the dealer will take you their a step by step to solve most problem you have with any vehicle the extra cost will equal the part you buy that did not fix your problem. you will learn like i did and our for farthers did and they got older and things got more expensive test test test

When it comes to spark, there are a few things to check. 1), is the coil grounded? 2) are there any breaks in the lines connecting the coil to the spark plug? 3) Check the corrosion of the points and gaps if equipped. Would help to know what kind of Honda you ride. Most of them are interference engines, the valves will kiss the pistons.

the battery is on the left hand side just below the seat helps if we know what bike it is ie the pan euro is covered by the side fairing

Generally if a bike has been sitting for quite a while it's good practise to remove the carbs and clean them thoroughly, and blast all passages out with compressed air. This is particularly important if the bike was left with fuel sitting in the carbs. It will evaporate out but most fuels have dyes in them and these dye particles can clog up emulsion holes within the carbs. Carb cleaner works best when the carbs are in pieces on the bench. It doesn't do much when they are on the bike as it's very limited as to the places it reaches.

your main jet is clogged up, or your float level is too low. remove float bowl and remove jets and clean them, using carb cleaner and a strand of copper speaker wire.
