Have a 85 goldwing interstate.Sometimes when I go

Have you checked the valve lash lately. Many times backfiring is from improper timing an valves not set correctly.

1985 Gold Wing Interstate -

by the goldwing parts sellers ebay 84 to 89 1200s goldwings have a pulse generator 1984 models have the PGs at the back of the engine. The engine has to come out to get at them, or I think you can pull the swingarm instead. From 1985 the PGs are under the timing belt covers. Still not the easiest to get at. a goldwing owners forum GL1200 Pulse Generators index-4l3mo04yvnp2xdvhjfffy5rf-2-0.jpg

Turn signals not working

Most likely it is a blown fuse. If not, check all your globes, because sometimes one globe gone can throw the whole system out. Hope this helps.

1993 honda goldwing smokes on start up

That's normal. Think about this, you park your bile on the side stand. Oil from the crank case makes it's way to the piston rings. A small amount of oil makes it way past the rings to the combustion chamber. This in its self is not an indicator of a bad engine since the goldwing engine is a flat opposed engine and is usually leaned to the left on the sidestand.

Honda 1985 1200 Gold Wing

First have the battery(s) tested. A number of car parts places will do it free. The test must be under load. Voltage may be fine in a discharged battery. In a 1985 Gold Wing the problem may be in the ignition switch. have the switch checked out.

Im looking for the types

To change your oil you will need 4 quarts of oil, a filter, and a new aluminum drain plug washer. You can reuse the old drain plug washer if it has not been squished out of shape. Your motorcycle comes from Honda usually with 10w-40 mineral base motorcycle oil. You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate. 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Automotive oils use different additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says " Energy Conserving " on the label . It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If you choose Synthetic oils, they will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. Pour in four quarts of oil to reach the high mark on the dip stick or inspection window. Make sure the motorcycle is upright or on the center stand when checking the level . You will probably need 4 quarts to hit the high mark. Run the motor for a minute or two to fill the oil filter compartment with oil. Now recheck the oil level and top up as needed. If you want to try an inexpensive full synthetic oil that is JASO MA rated 15w-40 Shell Rotella T Synthetic fits the bill at about $22 per gallon. All brands/manufacturers make a motorcycle oil. Some are very hard to find. Just make sure that the oil you pick has the JASO MA Japanese engine Rating to protect your motorcycle engine.
