MOST HARLEYS IVE SEEN HAVE AN ECCENTRIC ON THE REAR DRIVE AXLE TO MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT. IF SO, LOOSEN THE AXLE NUT AND ROTATE THE ECCENTRIC TO PROPER TENSION THEN TIGHTEN THE AXLE NUT. RECHECK TENSION AS IT MAY CHANGE DURING TIGHTENING.

Secure my motorcycle

Lock the steering to one side with the ignition lock. Use a disk lock. Use a large lock with a chain around something solid. If you use a disk lock, also get a bright ribbon that says something clever like “Remove Before Takeoff” so you don’t forget to remove the lock before you break your brake disk. Keep the motorcycle out of sight … or in a brightly-lit area. Keep it under a cover, with a better lock than the other motorcycles nearby. Get a bike that is less popular with thieves. Despite all this advice and all your best efforts, your bike might still get stolen.

When hooking my new vrod battery up i can hear the

When you discovered your battery was kaput, you were probably trying to start your bike at the time. I have seen on rare occasions that when this happens, the starter solenoid gets "stuck" in the "engaged" positon. Try rocking your bike backwards and forwards a few times with the transmission in high gear. Rock the bike while shifting the tranny until you get it into high gear. The with the clutch out, rock the bike and turn the engine over a few times. Shift the bike back down to neutral and try to connect the battery. Rocking the bike while in gear rotates the outer clutch drum. If the starter jack shaft is still engaged with the ring gear on the outer clutch drum, rocking the bike a bit will turn the drum allowing the spring in the starter to pull the jack shaft and starter gear back out of engagement. I hope this helps.

Oil leak 2008flstc crank case

Whenever you changed a gasket you should have checked if the barrel top or the other bit on top is leveled. These usually gets deformed just like cars whenever the gasket blows...I am using my experience from cars and motorbike to say this but most of my experience in bikes usually solve this by tightening the barrel screw,as if to lock the combustion chamber better...this usually solve this but if it does not then you need to get them out and check for uneven level and may need to sent to a machine shop to fix this..Hope this helps and please rate this solution..

Bike wont start

First thing > install a new set of the stock NGK spark plugs for your bike. Check for spark before installing. If no spark, then check to be sure the battery wires are clean and tight. Is the kill switch on? Is the side stand up? It should be up when starting. Is the bike in neutral? Check the fuses. Check the wiring connections, are they tight?

If spark is present, is the gas turned on? Clean or replace the air filter. If the bike still will not start go ahead and drain the
carbs. There should be a screw on the lower side of each carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carbs to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetors from the engine.

For both
carbs > remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together. Remount the carbs.

Next, remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Turn the gas back on to let the float bowls fill then start the engine. Be sure to balance and sync the carbs when finished. If you don't know how to balance and sync the carbs, get back to me after you do the stuff mentioned above. This process should get you back on the road.

Please rate this solution as " FixYa " if all goes well. Thanks!

I cant start my motorcycle

Check the carb for old petrol, drain off by unscrewing the brass bolt at the bottom of the carb, and allow new petrol to flow through on the starter. Petrol 'goes off' in time!

Fog

Parts of California commonly get patchy thick fog. Interstate 5 and other highways commonly are the scenes of multiple-car pileups resulting from people driving way too fast in the fog. Often, even if you slow down to an appropriate speed, some other idiot behind you will not, causing big pileups. A motorcyclist was killed this way early in 2002. First, slow down. Use your brakes so you light up your brake lights. Don’t drive faster than you can see. Second, dim your lights. The high beam will just illuminate the fog and blind you. If your motorcycle has four-way flashers and you’re going pretty slowly for freeway traffic, turn them on. (25MPH or slower is the typical rule, but use your judgement.) Third, if traffic slows to a stop, split between lanes of cars and get ahead in the jam. This may protect you from the idiot who’s still doing 75MPH behind you and can’t possibly stop in time before hitting the stopped cars.
