Check you have connected battery leads properly, failing that, check you have not blown a fuse,
Just as a further tip, if you intend to leave your bike for a while why not get a trickle charger, you can opt for a special designed one ie Oxford Optimiser, or Cheaper if you live in the U.k. you can get a Solar One frok Maplin, reduced to £9.99 they are great, Hope This helps

Carb. on 883 sporster
How did you set the float level. Sounds like you did not get the float adjustment set correctly. It is very particular and it is critical for proper running etc etc. Carb has to be set on the throat and then tilted between 15 to 20 degrees to set the float level or it will be wrong. Greater than 20 degrees will collapse thew pin return spring, less than 15 will not set float properly on needle. Then setting must be 0.413 to 0.453 inches.

Do you have a diagram of 2005 883 front forks?
You'll need to remove the front wheel after the bike is on a jack to
access the allen head bolts recessed in the bottom of the lower legs, remove the bolt, give the leg a tug and it will come right off

Fast idle after change of exhaust
Not sure when the Sportster went fuel injection (it was later than the big twins), but if you're still running a carb, there should be an IDLE SPEED adjustment screw, that does as the name implies.
Also, when changing to a more free-flowing exhaust, it usually leans out the mixture, so some adjusting of the carb's idle MIXTURE screw, and rejetting is commonly needed.

How do you adjust the
If it's got the original carburetor, there is a screw at the top right of the carb. You'll see the black square cap on the carb, look just to the right of that. You may have to take the air filter off in order to get to the screw. Adjust the idles speed when the engine is at full operating temperature. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed.
Ride safe
