I got a wobble on

This is very unusual for the spokes to get loose on a wheel. Without seeing the wheel, I'm betting that the wheel has been relaced at some time or another with chrome or custom spokes. If they used the wrong spokes, they will not stay tight. Since the spokes came loose this time, they'll do it again. I've seen wheels laced like this before and the "knobs" on the hub end of the spoke does not lay in the holes like they should. You cannot keep the spokes tight nor the wheel trued. It's best to have it either relaced the proper way or simply replace the entire wheel.

How do you change the

This model is a bit late for me but the earlier models had the battery tray done like this. Remove the seat. Then look at the battery cover on the right side of the bike. Now, look just a bit to the rear of the bike on the frame and you may see two bolts. These are "lock bolts" and you loosen them, do not take them out. Go back up to the top of the frame and look down inside the frame. Just inboard of the battery there's a bolt. This is the jack bolt. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to lower the battery tray and clockwise to raise it. I hope this helps.

Where is the transmission oil serviced

Run the Low Rider's motor for a few minutes to warm the oil up. Shut off the bike.
  • 2 Find your Low Rider's drain plug (on the oil pan). Using the screwdriver, loosen then remove the drain plug, and drain the oil into the drain pan.
  • 3 Remove the Low Rider's dipstick.
  • 4 Let the oil drain completely.
  • 5 Clean the drain plug threads with a clean cloth or paper towel, apply sealant, and replace the oil plug and dipstick.
  • 6 Move the drain pan to beneath the oil filter. Using the oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter.
  • 7 Discard the filter in the pan with the old oil. It is full of oil.
  • 8 With a clean rag or paper towel, clean the area where the gasket meets the motor.
  • 9 With a clean finger, rub a bit of new oil on the gasket of the new oil filter before installing it.
  • 10 Install the new filter, turning until snug, then turn it by hand another 1/2 turn. Take care to not over-tighten, as this will damage the filter gasket or the filter, possibly causing the Low Rider to fail.
  • 11 Open the oil reservoir, using the funnel; fill the tank with the fresh oil and close the reservoir.
  • 12 Run the motor for a few moments to coat the engine with the new oil. Check for leaks. (If you find any, check the filter and drain plug for a tight fit.)
  • 13 If there are no leaks, after the motor has run for a few minutes, turn off the motor and check the oil level. Top it off if necessary.

  • hope this helps

Cannot remove battery cover. it seems to be lodged

On the older model Dynas, there were two bolts between the battery and the rear fender. You had to loosen these two bolts as they hold the battery tray. Then you had to remove the seat and look down inside the frame just inside of the battery. There is a bolt head right there. This is a jack bolt. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to lower the battery tray, clockwise to raise it. This will release the battery top cover.

    How do i drain the

From the drawing that I'm looking at, the transmission is drained by removing the drain plug on the right rear of the oil pan. The other drain plug is for the engine oil and it appears to screw up from the bottom of the pan on the right side. If you have changed the engine oil, you know which plug drains the engine oil, it's the other one.

Rear fender is offset from the rear tore Drive

yes, it is normal. I've seen it on lots of bikes where the rear fender does not look exactly over the center of the tire. As for the 1° difference in tilt, here again, not enough to make a difference. You could probably get that much tilt due to the holes for the axles being clear drilled instead of reamed to exact fit. In both instances, the need for that level of precision would simply add more cost to building the machine without making it any better.

There is a knocking noise at the top of my engine

You didn't tell me how many miles you have on your Dyna but I can assure you that it's not a timing chain bridge. You bike does not have overhead cams and therefore no bridge at the top of the heads. It does have two cams in the cam chest and they are driven by chains. As such, they have chain tensioners. They should be checked every 10,000 miles or so.

If the noise is indeed in the top of the head, it's more than likely a rocker arm bushing. They usually last the life of an engine but things fail from time to time. To check them, you'll have to put the rocker box covers off and remove the bolts on the right side of each rocker. Then the rocker will come out. You can have the bushing replaced and resized to fit new shafts.

Where is idle and can I adjust it myself, on my

You can adjust it IF your bike is equipped with a carb. You may have to take the outer air filter cover off. Look at the top of the carb. Just to right of the round looking top is the idle stop screw. Clockwise to speed it up.

Where does the long black wire on the regulator go

This is the wire that goes to the battery to recharge it. Now, You can connect it directly to the positive post of the battery, to the copper post of the circuit breaker, or to the bolt on the starter where the large battery cable connects. Either place it will be connected either directly or indirectly to the positive post of the battery.

    Battery was replaced and started

It may be neither. I've heard some stories on here that points to either a securtiy system or and ECM problem on bike made after 2000. You can test your relay and starter.

Look at the end of your starter from the right side of your bike. It has a five sided plate on the end of the solenoid. Just above this plate is a single wire connection. Unplug the connector and use a test light inserted into the wire end of the connector. Turn on the ignition switch and press the start button, the test light should light or a meter should show battery voltage. If it does, it's something to do with your starter.

If it doesn't, the problem could be your relay. You'll have to find the starter relay as I don't know exactly where it is. On the older Dynas, it was in the electrical box on the left side of the bike right behind the coil cover. Once you find it. put your finger on it and turn on the ignition switch and press the start button. Feel for it to click. If it clicks but you're not getting power to the starter solenoid, I'd replace the relay.

But still, that may not solve your problem. When you first turn on your bike, you'll hear a click. If you hear a second click, it's your ECM causing your problem. This is the stuff that I know nothing about on a Harley. I work only on the bikes made prior to 1999. I hope this helps anyway.

Do I have to remove the primary cover to remove

Yes, you must take the jackshaft loose from the starter. Disconnect the battery. Drain and remove the primary cover. Just above the clutch, you'll see the jackshaft. Remove the small bolt and remove the jackshaft. When removing the jackshaft, there's a coupler inside the inner primary. This coupler goes in in a particular way. Mark the coupler as to how it came out. The tapered end goes inwards but mark it to make sure. When reinstalling the jackshaft use a new locktab on the small bolt and a drop of Loctite 242 (medium blue) to make sure it doesn't come loose. Torque it to 7-9 foot pounds.

Replace the Battery and Regulator but still not

The very first thing to do is to take the battery to an automotive parts house. Ask them to load test the battery for you. If the battery isn't up to par, it won't hold a charge.

Now, with a fully charged battery, connect a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) to the battery. Red lead of the meter to the positive post, black meter lead to the negative post. Put the meter's function switch in "DC VOLTS, 20 VOLT or greater range". Start the bike and bring the engine to a high idle. The meter should build up rapidly to read between 14.5 and 15.0 volts. If it does not. Move on to the stator.

Down on the left side of the engine cases, find and unplug the plug for the voltage regulator. Look down into the plug in the engine case. You'll see to metal contacts. You are going to put your meter leads on these contacts. First, change the setting on your meter to "AC VOLTS, 50 VOLTS or greater". Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. Put one meter lead on each metal contact down in the plug. It make no difference which lead goes to which contact because we are measuring in AC voltage. Your meter should read at least 30 volts or more. If not, your stator is not up to snuff.

If your stator is putting out enough voltage and the battery is getting 14.5 volts or better, it would appear that your charging system is working as designed. Now, that doesn't mean that it is ALWAYS working as it should. I fought a charging system on a 1991 FXR once for months. It would do fine most of the time but every once in a while, the battery would be dead. Even after a good ride it would be dead. We never could "catch" the charging system messing up. The owner finally got disgusted and had me change the entire system, stator, rotor, and regulator. No more problems. I would guess that the stator or regulator had an intermittant short or open circuit in it somewhere. At any rate, the entire thing went into the recycle bin.

    Were is the oil drain

The oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drain plugs on the oil pan. They used to be one on the left front corner and one in the center. Now, they are both on the front edge of the pan right next to each other. The one on the outside is the oil drain plug. The transmission drain takes a hex key or allen wrench where the oil drain takes a standard wrench or socket.

Need to check primary drive level on my FXDL 2003

No, the primary oil seperate from the engine oil. To check the level, you must remove the derby cover and stand the bike straight up. The level should be just to the bottom of the spring in the clutch assembly. Now, look at the clutch assembly and you'll see that most of the stuff is bright and shiney. Just inside the outer hub, you'll see a dark colored flat piece. This is the spring. It is a circular spring, not the conventional wound spring people think of when talking about a spring.

2003 LOW RIDER, BEEN SITTING FOR 9 MONTHS AND WHEN

I'd go buy a can of that "in the tank" carburetor and fuel injector cleaner and pour some in the fuel tank along with some fresh fuel. If this doesn't clear up your problem. A complete disassembly and cleaning of the carb may be called for.
