To be honest with you, I don't know. You would have to refer to a service manual specific to your model bike. I do know that it it supposed to have a sleeve in it. The length of the sleeve would be dependent upon the type of front end you have and the machining of the wheel hub itself. You would want the lenght of hub that would wind up with the fewest number of shims in the hub. As I've inferred, the assembly also has a special washer and shims in there as well. You add or subtract shims until you get an endplay of 0.002" to 0.006". Although my service manual doesn't show them, there mey be two short sleeves that go inside the wheel bearing seals on either side of the wheel. I would look in a parts manual for the recommmended parts and start from there. If you can get hold of a 6" caliper, maybe you could measure between the surfaces that the bearing races seat against, subtract for the thickness of the special washer and a few shims to determine what length spacer you need.
To remove your starter, first disconnect the battery. Then remove the foot board on the left side of the bike. Drain the oil out of the primary and remove the outer primary cover. Take the small bolt out of the starter jackshaft and remove it.
Now, on the left side of the bike, you'll probably have to remove the exhaust system plus anything else that might be in the way of getting to the starter and the bolts that hold it on. Disconnect the battery cable at the screw post on the starter, 12 mm nut. There are two large bolts that hold the starter on that take an Allen wrench or hex key to remove. Take these two bolts out and the starter is loose. Work it out of the engine.
Have you added any additional accessories to the bike? If so, you could have raised the total current requirement of the bike with everything running. This could cause the main breaker to trip. Although I'm thoroughly familiar with your model of bike, Harley usually uses a breaker for the main circuit protection then going to fuses for individual circuit protection. If the main breaker is rated at 30 amps and you're drawing a constant 28, almost anything could change temporarily to cause you to exceed the 30 amp rating of the circuit breaker. A circuit breaker uses a bi-metal strip that heats up and breaks the circuit. It usually takes just a little while for the bi-metal strip to cool and then "reset" the circuit.
The next time it does this, notice if he headlight goes out. If it's the main breaker, the light will go out. If not, you're dealing with something that is smaller although just as aggreviating. You'll have to try to figure out what is still working when the bike quits. I think you have several fuses that are labeled what they control like the ignition, lights, and whatever else. Notice which circuits are still working to determine what circuit is not working. Being no fuses are blowing, it's not a short circuit, it's a momentary open circuit or an intentional electrical shutdown to protect something.
As far as I know, a Hummer wheel laces just like any other wheel. But, if you'll contact me directly, I'll see if I can round up an original manual and scan what you need and send it to you. Contact me at [email protected].
Your turn signal module has failed or has a weak electrical connection. Disconnect, clean, and reconnect the 12 pin connector. If this doesn't correct the problem, replace the turn signal module.
Almost any time you change either the exhaust or the air filter on a motorcycle, you must retune the fuel system.
If your bike is carb equipped, you'll probably have to go up one size on the slow jet and idle the engine up a bit. The idle speed screw is located at the top of the carb towards the front of the bike. You may have to take the air filter cover off to get to it. Changing the slow jet will require a partial disassembly of the carb. If your slow jet is a #45, you'll need either a #48 or a #50 jet.
If your bike is fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a dealer to get the fuel map changed.
it is a worn primary chain ,,,when its standing the oil runs out the chain and on start up it takes a fuw turns to get the oil back into the chain,, check the oil leavel first
but dont worry to much about it, as its pricy to fix so just put up with it
The oil drain plug is located on the right hand side of your bike as if you were sitting on it, in front of the swing arm right off of the frame rail. The drain plug is a 5/8 bolt.
Hi
It is located on the right side just under the oil tank ; if you follow the rudder hose that exits the rear right side of your oil tank it leads to the bottom of the frame under this is the oil plug. This hose has a plug clamped to the end of it or stuck into a prug that is welded to the frame. After this unclamp and pull the plug to make sure that you have the dipstick out before pulling it loose. Please do rate the solution as "FixYa" if found useful and revert for further assistance.
