Low beams on my 2006 r1200rt do not come on and
Hi,
The power for the low beams starts at the dimmer switch. The power then travels on a black/green wire to fuse number 2.From fuse #2 the juice goes again on a black/green wire to the low beams. So, check if the power is getting to fuse #2 and that the fuse holder is OK. Check the black/green wires for breaks. Finally if you have no power to fuse 2 then check the dimmer switch itself.
Let me know,once done.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Brake light quit working on
I thought the brake light has its own feed from the battery as the brake light works with or without ignition on mine. Maybe a blown fuse or poor earth. Check for 12 volts on the switches.
Procedure to check oil level
Check oil when bike is cold...... here is the best procedure.
Ride bike (and enjoy)
Park bike on side stand, let sit for at least 10 minutes or overnight. (lets oil drain out of cooler into sump)
Put bike on center stand. Bike should be on level ground
Check oil level in window on lower LHS of engine.
Level should be anywhere inside of red circle in sight glass.
DO NOT OVERFILL let level get down to lower edge of red circle before adding oil
Good Luck!
Motor tick's when warm
What does the "tick" sound like?? The R-RT is an air/oil cooled engine and some noise is normal. If noise is very loud, it could indicate a problem with valve train or any number of other things.
Does noise stop when you pull clutch in with trans. in neutral?
When were the valves last checked/adjusted? Was rocker arm end play checked as well as valve clearance?
Sorry, more questions than answers
I just want a complete manual for my R1200C
Dear Madam or Sir,
I don´t think that there is a repair manual in English language available, I´m sorry.
Have a look at this book,
(CLICK) , it is in German language but it comes with lots of wiring diagrams, pictures etc.
German is not a hard language ;)

Front Brakes Lost Progresiveness
Sounds like the brake pads either need replacing or taken out and thoroughly cleaned with brake cleaner or boiled in a string solution of detergent for 1.2 hour or so, then left to dry naturally after a rinse. Check the disks are clean as well with brake cleaner and dry off with soft cloth. Check that no other source of oil is finding its way to the disks like fork oil on the front disks or engine oil on the rear.the

Lots of gas, engine shot off. R1100R,97BMW MOTORCYCLE
i am no expert on bikes but i do know a little.
on some bikes and engines in general if the oil gets low, it has a sensor that will shut the ignition system down to prevent damage.
check the oil and make sure it's up to par.
if it was a gas filter chances are it wouldn't just shut off, it would show signs of low gas like chugging and the like.
good luck
I have a rattling sound from my burgman 400 k8.
Change out the gas to a higher octane and do not use gas with ethanol. This sounds like engine knock > translated; pre-ignition of the fuel in the cylinder. This is not a good thing to have. It is hard on the crank and even harder on the piston. If the problem does not go away after a tank or two ask the dealer to check the engine timing. Also check gearbox oil level. Low oil creates heat and heat promotes detonation aka pre-ignition.
Change brake light
Remove screws on rear of rear light housing, both left & right. Pull bulb housing to rear until it's clear of holders. Turn bulb holder counter-clockwise to remove it from the bulb housing. Press bulb into its socket & turn it counter-clockwise to remove.
Engine noise at idle speed
Sounds like it's time to adjust the valves. The noise you are likely hearing is due to valve train noise. I suspect you have loose valves. Also I would recommend making sure the carburetors are synchronized. If one side is off you will actually feel a roughness in the motor especially at idle.
When you remove the valve covers be sure to look for any dryness in the valve train. You want to make sure you're not having an oiling problem.
You'd be well off to just do a major tune up. Be sure to replace the spark plugs too.
