What can be done to improve the forks so they are

First, use the owners manual and check the setting of the compression damping. Set the compression damping a bit lighter and try it out. This will make the forks feel less stiff, but the fork springs could still be too stiff for your weight. Make sure the rear air spring has enough air in it too, this can adversely effect handling.

Next step, Work with a reputable off-road suspension shop to set up the bike for your weight and riding abilities. There is not much you can do with the rear air spring/shock, but I found that it worked quite well.

A couple of good suspension tuning shops are Enduro Engineering, Factory Connection. etc. Most of the good shops will require that you remove the forks and send them in for re-spring or re-valve work.

Ask at your local dealer that sells a lot of motorcross type bikes about good suspension shops in your area.

BMW X challenge 1997, only

There are some fuses under the seat area at the back of the bike, but doubtful that this is the problem. You did check the "kill" switch on the handlebars?

More likely old stale gas in the fuel pump and filter/pressure regulator. Try cranking the bike with the starter and hold the throttle open slightly to get some of the stale gas out of the injector and associated fuel line.

I had one of these bikes as a demo at the BMW dealer that I worked at and it was a great machine.... Hope you can get out on yours more often.

check the thermostat it could be sticky or just stuck shut it could also be,,, a blocked rad,,,, running with a very week fule mix, (wrong muffler fitted will do this),,, a water pump fault,,,, or a faulty water temp censor,
or worst,,,a head gasket blown!!! or cracked block!!!
change the thermostat first, its the cheapest part,

Fuse for the headlights for 650 BMW 2008

On a 2008 BMW 650i, the fuse for the headlights is located in the fuse box under the hood. The specific fuse you need is Fuse #61, which is a 20-amp fuse located in the third row of fuses from the top. To access the fuse box, open the hood and locate the black plastic cover on the right side of the engine bay. There should be a diagram on the underside of the cover showing the layout of the fuses. Once you've found the correct fuse, you can use a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove it from the fuse box. It's always a good idea to check the owner's manual for your specific vehicle to get the most accurate and up-to-date information on the location and function of the various fuses.
