Hi I have a BMW 2005 model 1200 GS. On attempt to start it seems to cut-out. Feedback is that the starter electronic fuse trips. Is there a known cause / solution out there please?

You have not provided much information to go on so it is very hard to give you any help with this. For example, what do you mean by cut out. Do you mean the engine stops or the starter motor stops. Any where have you got the feedback from. Is it a diagnostic from the computer, or just a well meaning friend who is guessing. Questions like this are very hard to answer without a lot of information so you need to try and give as much as possible. If it is a fuse that is tripping, then this will be due to an overload on the circuit and you will need to get someone with the skills to diagnose it, such as a BMW repairer.

What does lightning bolt symbol on the BC of a BMW K1200lt mean?

2014 bmw 1200rt motorcycle, while ridding the suspension went solid on strapping it down on a trailer it freed off with a bang any thoughts is it safe to ride ? thanks.

Hey Robin, When you collapsed your suspension, it hydraulically "locked" down.. now that it has returned to normal, it should be OK...as long as it works smoothly and does not bind... ....be careful.. rubber side down=always!!

10167 Output stage to electric fuel pump GS/A 1200 Idling irregular Battles to start Fault appears to start intermittently Bike may start and ride, then will appear to have fuel starvation This unit is situated on the left side of the tank. It is a little aluminium unit with fins on. Check the o-ring of this unit. Unscrew the unit and check for moisture in the cavity below it. Use moisture repellent spray and contact cleaner to clean this device. If problem solving does not work then replace the unit. 10218 CAN-Bus Timeout: No communication with KOMBI (Instrument cluster) control unit GS/A 1200 Test with diagnostic system. Clear fault code. 10219 CAN-Bus Timeout: no communication with ZFE (Central vehicle electronics) control unit GS/A 1200 Instrument cluster does not activate properly. Instrument cluster activates partially and then fades away. May start on intermittent occasions Test with diagnostic system. If all else fails replace the ZFE control unit. (Very expensive). 10444 Fuse activated for component block 3 (starter relay, Immo (EWS) ring aerial, ignition coils, injectors) GS/A 1200 There may be a short on the battery terminals or elsewhere. Can happen in conjuction with fault code 10219. 23971 Rear wheel speed sensor: Signal implausible GS/A 1200 Possible dirt on sensor. Dirt on wheel where sensor lost contact. Test with diagnostic system. Clear fault code. Replace sensor if fault code reappears. 24052 Electric System under-voltage GS/A 1200 Starter motor battles to turn Instrument cluster fades and then reappears. Check Battery Voltage Check that the alternator is charging battery Check wiring to see that a short is not draining battery power. Replace battery if it is not charging or Service alternator 24971 Pressure In Front Wheel Circuit To High GS/A 1200 Check Wheel Pressure! Release air out of front wheel to the correct pressure. BMW f650 funduro oil sump plug rotates but won't come out

The threads are bad. If you cannot get under the head of the plug or use vice grips to pull it out, then you are going to have to remove the whole sump pan.

Hi Gregg BMW K1200LT O2 Sensor. Thanks for your answer. Both Failures occurred during normal riding, is there a way to test the sensor as I know they are extremely sensitive regards Alan

if you can get the specifications they can be tested ( best done by a service center with the equipment) generally a clean using vinegar will remove the oxide build up that affects their performance unless it is a wiring problem in which case , replacement will be required be careful as there are 2 oxygen sensors in use one has 4 wires and is a heated oxygen sensor and the other is an oxygen sensor with 2 wires

Is there power to the ignition coil? Do you have a spark on the plug(s)?

May need a leveragebar something w lenth on it...penetrating fluid helps tu. Chilton manuals in ur library show detaild . Iv seen a touch of the key w the ratchet safely in place spin one off

Hi just got the rd 1200 st it won't go into gear when first started from cold is this intended by bmw or is there a problem . Thanks

I assume you are talking about an R1200ST, correct? If so, there would appear to be a problem with the gearbox, which is separate from the engine. You could attempt to first drain and change the oil. If it still gives trouble, it will have to be opened up and checked.

2005 BMW R 1200 motorcycle no quick response with the throttle

1- check throttle cable adjustment 2- check air cleaner 3- check fuel - motorcycles do not like ethanol fuel 4- depending on whether injection or carbs dump in the the appropriate cleaner and see if that helps 5- If i remember right , this is a touring bike not a racer. Designed for steady pull and plenty of power, just not off the line. 6- Might be wrong on everything so keep watching for a better answer. Hope this helps.

BMW motorcycle K11LT. Runs but wiring gets extremly hot and bike conitinuosly tries to start when the battery is connected.any ideas what to so to fix it?

Hi Will: Disconnect the wire from the ignition switch to the starter. See if the problem stops. There's little doubt that you have an electrical problem and you will break pieces if you don't solve it. If your bike has a relay to the starter, it may be that the contacts have fused. Let me know what you find. Will try to assist.
