How to fix rear brake pads on a BMW 1150RT

You'll have to disassemble it and move your piston in and out of the caliper to make sure it gets full stroke. Sounds like it's not compressing all the way into the caliper. Also some break fluids can expand, You may try bleeding it down a little first.

How do you check the engine and transmission oil

Hi

This can happen when you may have introduced air into the hydraulics or moved the ABS sensor out of position. It also happens if you start the bike with a low battery then the brake warning lamp will stay on. This was especially a problem with the 01 and older bikes. It is caused by the battery voltage being below the ABS computers voltage requirement. Charge the battery and ride it, see what happens. These systems are also very finicky about clean brake fluid. This is why BMW wants it changed annually. If the bike has servo brakes check that one of the brake lamp switches isn't sticking on. Please review this service manual for more information:

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Brake failure light.

This is normal. Its part of the start up diagnostics where the sensors needs to see the wheels rotate 1 or 2 revolutions to verify proper functioning of the ABS system.

Abs fault on 2004 r1150rt

I would take it in to get the ABS system serviced - you may have introduced air into the hydraulics or moved the ABS sensor out of position. If oyu have the power-assist brakes, you will notice that there isn't any - assist, that is.

Motorcycle fault

Check for a blockage in the fuel tank vent.
Run with the fuel cap cracked open - if it runs fine, try and work out where the vent is blocked.

Suspect water in fuel system

Since you have fuel injection, the only way to loose water in the tank is to remove the tank and dump the contents. The bike may still run rough for a mile or so but should get better when the old fuel is purged from the fuel lines.

I hope you can reate this solution as a "FixYa". Thanks

Can't get the revs below 3500rpm

Remove the negative battery connection and leave it disconnected for about 15 minutes. That should reset your engine management system. I would try a different battery if you have one handy, or maybe put yours on a battery charger. For the problem to appear suddenly after six weeks without running the bike my best guess is the battery is not functioning properly.

Good luck.

Trunk for 1150 RT

I have the standard trunk (supplied by BMW for 1150RT for a hefty price). Nice thing about it is that it fits nicely, has a backrest for the passenger and is very stable and strong. The poor thing about it is that it still will not fit a helmet. I suggest you also look at the GIVI trunk. I don't know how it will fit to the 1150RT, but I do know they look nice, are well made and large enough to accomodate a lot more thant the BMW trunk. By the way, how do you like your 1150? I love mine. If only I had more time to ride it.

BMW R1150 RT

I love my R1150RT. It is smooth, it has a lot more lug at lower RPM than the older modles (2003 and before models with 1 spark plug). The modifications with 2 spark plugs have cured all the surging. Should you want a smooth, reliable, comfortable and high speed touring bike, I would sauggest this bike is the best.

HALL EFFECT SENSOR ON BMW RT

Your question is not complete.I can answer the questions if they are complete.I have previous experience replacing Hall Effect Sensor.(Source:https://www.apogeeweb.net/electron/what-is-a-hall-effect-sensor.html) I bought the new unit from beemer boneyard. I initially ordered the wrong part number and the plug was incompatible. I got really good service on getting the right one ordered and returning the wrong one for credit. It's not the lowest cost option but worked well for me. I also built my own timing light for about $12 of radio shack parts. Worked like a champ.
