Adjust the clucth of R1150RT

You cannot adjust the clutch as it is hydraulic. You can only adjust the lever span. Check the colour of your clutch fluid. It should be golden yellow. If it is dark coloured, change it. If it turns dark again you may have a problem with the slave cylinder on the back of the gearbox. Why are you asking how to adjust the clutch, is it slipping?

R1150rt. after a fuel stop it died on the road, changed the fuel

Carburator clean up could help solve the problem, it seems some dirt may have entered the float chamber!
Blow the jets with compressed air.
Hope this helps!

2002 1150 rt will not idle without choke on ,even

Hi, your problem could be either fuel or an air leak. I would sugest you aproach this problem in a systematic way. Have you performed any adjustments or maintenance on your motorcycle prior to this fault occuring?
Possible causes, cylinders are not receiving the same amount of fuel/air, ie they are out of ballance and one is fighting against the other. To check this requires a fair amount of work on this bike plus access to a set of carb balances.
I would suggest to start you remove the clothing on both sides of the bike to gain access to the throttle bodies, when this far check underneath the throttle bodies that the rubber plugs are present covering the small brass stubs and that they are not split, this is where I would suspect an air leak to be, if all ok here and you have aquired the carb balances then perform the test and adjustment as per instructions for the kit.
The other cause could be fuel starvation, have you had the petrol tank off or disturbed it at all? It is very easy on these bikes to trap a fuel line under the tank when re-fitting !

Wiring diagrams

I see you were asking about installing a radio on your 1150RT a few days ago.

There are no downloadable wiring diagrams that I know of out there on the 'net. You can purchase a copy of SLP2 which is a CD containing wiring diagrams for many BMW bikes. Maybe a copy can be found on Ebay?

The other easy option is to trace out the power wires and speaker wires in the harness using a test light and ohm meter. You need constant 12v, switched 12v and ground for your radio/CD and then the speaker wires. Does your bike have the speakers and antenna already installed?

Good Luck!

Just bought it used. no owner's manual. how do i

Here is the most accurate way to check the oil on your R-RT.

Ride bike till it is fully warmed up - 10 minutes
Park bike on side stand for 10 minutes or longer.... overnight.
Put bike on center stand and look at oil level window on lower left side of engine. Oil level should be inside the red circle. Do not overfill!!

The absolute best time to check the oil is when the engine is cold and all oil has drained out of oil cooler and lines into the engine sump. Usually before riding... Once properly broken in, your engine will consume very little oil.

Gear oil is leaking from the seal in rear drive

While it is not difficult to replace the seal, this usually indicates that the main bearing in the final drive has failed and pushed out/damaged the seal causing the leak.

Put bike on center stand and hold rear wheel with both hands and 12 and 6 O'clock positions. Try to move wheel by pushing towards the side of the bike in each direction. If wheel moves more than 1-2mm then you need to have final drive repaired. You can also remove drain plug at the bottom of the final drive and see if any metal particles drain out with the oil. Use a small drain pan to catch the oil.

Sorry, but likely not an easy seal replacement to fix this problem.

Works intermintly at speed rear seems to not

Yep, that is about average for replacement of the IABS control module.

There are a few options:

If you don't mind a bike with no ABS, a few have removed the ABS module and purchased new brake lines etc to have conventional brakes. This would be a DIY project as no BMW dealer will likely touch it.

Another option is buying a used IABS module from a wrecked bike. Try beemerboneyard as one source for used parts.

Last thing for the really fearless, is to take apart the IABS module and try and repair it. Sometimes the pressure sensors stop working in the module. There was a guy on Adventure Rider that did this and it worked for him.

Unfortunately, no easy solutions for you.

Good Luck!

My BMW 1150RT battery light came on. I replaced

This looks like a regulator or alternator issue. If you have access to a volt meter start the bike and check the voltage going to the battery. Needs to be 13.5 or 14 volts. If not time to take the Beemer to the shop.

Hello. If you do not have power going to the motor begin by checking the fuse. Most likely you will have to replace it. Be sure to use a new fuse which is the same amperage as the old one. Joe
