it will move up and down as necessary to keep the fuel level in check.also it has to move up and down to open and close the float valve

clean air filter, and clean carb with spray cleaner.make sure carb choke is free to move.look for vacuum lines off or stopped up. if trash is in the carb just draining it might not be enough,you may need to clean the jets or float needle valves too.

On the GZ, the carburetor sits directly beneath the frame and where it makes a "Y" to split down both sides of the bike. First drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Remove the float bowl. Everything comes apart with a phillips screwdriver (not a #2)

Look on your title for the VIN number (frame number). Call a Suzuki dealer and they should be able to tell you what year and model you have. This assumes the bike is within around 15 years old.

Along with replacing the piston, I would assume that you are replacing the rings. I would also hone out the engine while you are at it, that should help make it last longer. Otherwise it sounds like you are on the right track. Let me know how this turns out.

It is the device with cooling fins, even though the electronic parts are embedded in rubber paste.The location isn't ideal and sudden defects leave people stranded so what people do is relocate the regulator/rectifier to a cooler place. Perhaps to the air inlet, under the air filter. Follow the three, mostly, yellow cables that originate from the stator when you don't find it behind the radiator.

What do you mean by "Midway"? How old is this motorbike? What exactly did you do to clean the carburettor? Is it a new spark plug and a new, clean air filter? Did you empty the fuel tank to remove the fuel tap to clean the filter on the inside of the tap? Is it doing anything else? Things like - is it hard to start, has heavier exhaust smoke or it has a rough and uneven idle.

A broken timing chain is the most likely cause, the piston is hitting an open valve, or you have a dropped valve or a stuck valve. Another possibility is something jamming behind behind the side covers.The key would be how you discovered this? If it runs on starter fluid that means it's not a spark issue. This is most likely a fuel starvation problem. You need to start at the tank and work all the way through the fuel system all the way to the cylinder. If your getting fuel at the filter go to the next part in the system and check for fuel from that point. When was the Carburettor last serviced? A dirty/worn jet or a dirty/worn float needle can cause issues. Try this. Don't use starter fluid. Spin the engine over for 2 to 3 seconds. Turn the Ignition Off. Remove a spark plug and look at it. Your checking to see if it's wet with fuel. Giving it a sniff sometimes helps. Refit that plug and repeat this for the other cylinder. If they are wet the engine is getting fuel. What EXACTLY is it doing to make you think it isn't getting fuel? This model does not have a separate fuel filter. The fuel tap on actual tank, (the petcock), has a gauze filter built into it inside the tank. These can sometimes clog up over time especially if it's had bad gas through it or it's been stood for a while. When was the last time the Carbs were serviced? This could be as simple as a dirty fuel jet or a dirty/worn needle. If your going to clean the gauze filter make absolutely sure the tank is empty BEFORE you remove any fuel lines or the petcock. I found that an old, stiff bristle toothbrush works well to clean the gauze.
