1980 Suzuki GS750 16valve oil leak

Get the VIN from the frame and call a Suzuki dealer with the number. They should be able to tell you exactly what you have. The regulator and the rectifier should not get red hot; replace. You can get many parts at Babbitt's. Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

Will a carburettor for a susuki 750 GSX fit a 750

You have a 90 percent chance the swap will be okay providing the carbs are not more than a year or two apart.

Clutch engageing at start up

when gas enters the crankcase the gas will wash the oil of the clutch plates. And if it sat faor a while the plates will stick together(usually rust) and not relaese properly. most of the time they will just work themselves out but if not you will probably need to pull the clutch pack and inspect them. And if your bike has a lot of mile then while it is apart it would be a good idea just to replace them

In general are tune ups expensive at suzuki ??

Expect to pay about $200 at a dealer for a tune up. Most of that will be labor, checking your carburetors, air filter, fuel filter, and changing the oil. Call first, some places will not even work on older bikes anymore.

Need help with my 1980 suzuki gs750l

you should see a spigot on the carb ( normally a brass color) thats where the fuel line goes. and to check for spark, pull off plug cap, remove plug and place it into the cap. rest the plug on the motor so it is touching at the thread part. then try to start the bike while looking at the plug, you will see the spark jump from the electrode, thats if you have a spark, if not then you need to start looking at why? maybe bad coil of just a fuse blown. do you have all other electrics working

What is the reliability of the 1980 suzuki gs750l, .

Many of these bikes will run fine with high miles. I would check the tires, fork seals for leaking fluid. Listen to the engine and exhaust for odd noises. Pinging and rattling are bad. See how it shifts. These bikes require a special tool to replace the clutch plates and that can be expensive.

I owned a 1982 GS550L with 33k Miles on it, and it rode fine. Watch that tire pressure and suspension. Other than that, enjoy your bike!

Cleaning your motorcycle tank

USE ELECTROLYSIS. I recently got this bike for free and decided to just fix it myself. One of the major problems was old gelled gas and rust inside the tank. I thought about getting it bead blasted but because of my budget decided to try myself first. I looked online and found out about electrolysis. Finally a use for chemistry class. All you need is a 8-12 volt battery charger, Washing soda (NOT baking soda, It must be sodium carbonate.) water, and a wire hanger ( or something similar). fill the tank to the top with water and 1/3 cups of the Sodium Carbonate. Rig the wire through something non conductive so that it can sit inside the tank without touching the tank (otherwise you'll see some fireworks). Try and bend the wire into some kind of fork shape to get maximum surface area for the rust to grab onto. Once the wire is in place connect the Positive charge to it and the Negative charge to the tank. Leave it for 1-2 days and then take out the wire and clean it, flush the tank with some clean water and start the proccess again. When the tank is clean get some POR15 sealant and make sure your tank is sealed so it won't rust again. For more detailed intsructions just google electrolysis and there is plenty of documentation.
