Chances are it is a grounded kill switch on the handlebars or a side-stand / center-stand kill switch that has gone bad or is out of position.
Stick in a new spark plug also.

What do you mean by wont turn over? is the engine spinning over and not starting or is it doing nothing when start button is pushed?

No it wont fit properly even the local mechanic says it will. If you fix without changing the Rim then you will find problems while riding.

A service manual is a valuable tool with an aging bike. I suggest the dealer/mfr. or Clymer books. In the meantime, go to the library reference section...646 stacks should have what you need.

Cold air is denser and you'll get more air in the bike and the engine compensates with more fuel. It's cold as hell at 20F outside but damn does the bike run crisp!,,

The First thing you have to NOT DO is try to start it if it has been sitting for any long duration of time 6 months or more second, you have to remove the gas tank, drain the contents, into a can you can see in, look for a dark brown colored corpusal, in the gas, if there is some, that is an indication, that your carbs need to come apart, unless you are a seasoned mechanic, you will have to remove the carb, take the bowl off, of course you will look for the brown couloured substance again, clean the bowl, remove the pin, holding the float in placebeing carfule to secure the needle valve in its proper place after cleaning it thouroughly, remove the jet, using a tiny bit, you reem the jet hole center, taking care not to bore it out, the you run the bit in the jet hole, cleaning any debri that may be there, use carb cleaner and keep spraying it in all in puts and out puts the carb may have, then if you put your mouth to the feul input to the carb, blow in it to be sure it is clear, if not youl have to use carb cleaner and air to clean it out, air and carb cleaner is the key to cleaning it properly, some carbs need to be taken apart and soaked in a carb cleaner, before reassembly, just keep blowing air in all the inputs and out puts, to be sure they are cleared, reassemble and GO,,,

Remove the seat. There should be a large plastic box with ( I think ) 6 screws in it to remove the air box cover. Go for it, then remove the filter. Your now exactly half way done.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Blown instrument fuse.
2. Faulty sending unit.
3. Faulty wiring between the sending unit and gauge.
4. Faulty ground or power connection.
5. Bad fuel gauge.

Hi, Mathew derestrict is a negative term rider's use to express their wish to improve performance on their bike or scooter. Depending on the country and motor vehicles laws some bikes and scooters are designed to conform with said laws and their performance is slightly lower than other countries. All vehicles in the world are designed to perform at 75-80% of their maximum potential, this ensures the longevity of the engine. Derestricting or improving performance is always possible on any vehicle but the tradeoff of engine longevity numbers go down, how much depends on the number and type of performance upgrades. Your local dealership or reputable independent shop are best equipped to provide you with technical data and willingness to comply with your needs.
