this should be a simple job just loosen the the bleed nipple attach a short length of rubber or plastic pipe over the nipple and put the other end in the jar take the lid off the brake fluid resovoir behind the side panel and top up the brake fluid to the required level and press down the brake pedal until fluid comes out of the other end of the pipe keep doing this in a pumping action until air bubbles are seen and expelled then holding down the pedal at the same time tighten up the bleed nipple and top up the resouvoir and check the rear brake pedal to see if it works ok and feels firm
Will not start..i pour gas in cyclinder and trys
carbs have to come off and be completely cleaned and if your keeping the bike i would order carb kits and rebuild them while you have them off. the good thing is that when you are done the bike will likely run fine. when gas sits over 18 months it becomes a varnish like substance than plugs all the jets and the needle and seat. good luck. if you havent done this before get a manual and takes notes as you tear the carbs down and pictures if needed. if you take enough notes and dont let the job sit unfinished too long you should be able to do this without any problems.
Trying to teach my girlfriend to ride this
All most every motorcycle has a push down to down shift and pull up to change to the higher gears pattern. The only exception I am aware of is racing conversions on road race bikes which are opposite of what I stated. Your 1981 model has a six speed gear box with the very first gear being the one you will find pushing the shifter down until it stops snicking through the gears and firms up a bit. Then you have neutral the first spot when you pull it up and then 2,3,4,5,6.

To get a service manual
Google " service manual kawasaki "
or go to
www.repairmanuals.com
What you spend for a manual is a heck of a lot cheaper than what the shop would charge for labor. Not only that, but as other problems come up you have repair instructions
immediately at hand. BY the way, I am glad to see someone not afraid to turn a wrench.
Please rate this solution. Thanks Rob!

Install new spark plugs and go easy on the throttle when starting. A power valve squirts extra gas every time the throttle is twisted. Twist too often when starting and the engine floods. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
If all 4 have sparks and 1 cylinder is colder than the others, then it would be fuel starvation on that cylinder. Almost always, it would be a carb problem. The carbs would need to be pulled down, stripped & dis-assembled and all non-rubber parts soaked in carb cleaner. Particular attention/cleaning to the jets and all the small / pin holes. Note the number of turns on the air pilot screw. Ensure float works on all specially the one for the cylinder that is cold.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
I have a 2002 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 I'm customizing it can the rectifier be moved so it's not just hanging there.
Absolutely, the rectifier on your Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 can be repositioned during a customization project. The rectifier is a crucial part of the motorcycle's electrical system, converting alternating current (AC) from the stator into direct current (DC) to charge the battery and power the bike's electrical components.
While relocating the rectifier, it's important to consider a few key factors:
- Space and Mounting: Assess the available space on the motorcycle to find a suitable location for the rectifier. Ensure that the new position allows for proper mounting and secure attachment without interfering with other components or the bike's functionality.
- Heat Dissipation: The rectifier generates heat during operation, so it's essential to relocate it to an area with adequate airflow for cooling. Mounting it in a well-ventilated area helps prevent overheating issues.
- Wiring and Connections: When moving the rectifier, ensure that the wiring can be appropriately rerouted to reach its new location. Take care to maintain proper electrical connections and ensure a secure, stable wiring setup.
- Protection: Consider adding protective measures, such as shields or guards, to safeguard the relocated rectifier from road debris, water, or other potential hazards.
Modifying the placement of the rectifier may require custom brackets, mounts, or fabrication work to secure it in the desired location. It's crucial to execute the relocation carefully, maintaining proper electrical connections and ensuring the rectifier's safety and functionality.
If you're not confident in performing these modifications yourself, consulting a professional motorcycle mechanic or technician with experience in customizations can be highly beneficial. They can offer guidance, expertise, and ensure that the modifications are carried out safely and effectively.
